Rose Bushes and Placenta

My daughter has saved her son's placenta (currently in my freezer!) and coming up now to his 3rd birthday she would like to plant it under a special shrub and was considering a rose bush - either in the ground or in a large pot. I know it is perhaps an odd question but does anyone have any idea whether this would affect the growth of the rose, whether perhaps it might not be a good idea (gardening wise) and whether in a tub or direct in the ground would be preferable. Her other choice of plant was some sort of citrus so maybe similar issues re soil nutrients.

Good Lord No, though I once planted a duck what died and planted it under a rose and the plant didn't show any ill affect.

Does "Good Lord No" mean it will harm a plant or is it just a comment upon her wish to do this? It was actually a horticultural not a cultural question!!

Knockout Rose? mysteriously growing in old red rose bush?

It's probably the rootstock. I would mark those canes and see if they bloom again this summer, if not it's almost positively the rootstock. Dr. Huey is a once bloomer that only blooms on old wood. If it reblooms you know it's not Dr Huey rootstock. If it's rootstock most likely the grafted rose will die out and Huey will take over. Someone more knowledgable will have to advise if there is any chance of saving the grafted plant by cutting those newer canes off all the way down below the ground - my only experiences with Dr Huey were cases where the grafted plant had completely died off during bad winters and I ended up removing the entire plant.

It means, IndigoD. that I, and probably most of my (aging) generation, would never consider placing the placenta from the birth of any of our children in a freezer and then one day some years later wondering whether to bury it under a rose bush or not - perhaps I'm 'old fashioned! Horticulturally it will do the plant no harm, might in fact, provide some nutriment
