What a clever Daisy it is!

Good grief!! I had no idea that a chook would eat a mouse...especially whole. That's amazing (but also a tad revolting LOL).

I must add that Daisy is one extremely healthy looking chook.

Maybe she didn't want to share her food with the pesky little mouse.
I hope the others were watching and learnt how to treat them too.

O yes the other five chooks were not only watching they were chasing her all over the yard, I have seen three of our chooks now catch and devour a mouse. Another thing I like to watch them do is jump up in mid air and catch moths or grasshoppers and eat them, they are good at keeping the insects down as well... Cheers... MM.

I was the proud but sad owner of the worlds most expensive rat trap ! Horrible creature decided to crawl inside the VCR and could not get out , it chewed and wrecked the innards ..

That's weird (the video catcher). My Mum's friend went away for 2 months one year, a possum came down her chimney and could not get out again. It survived for a while on what it could access in the kitchen (not much with pantry doors shut), ate a bowl of plastic fruit, drank the toilet dry, then expired. Not first before tearing her curtains to shreads, and the smell of excrement and dead possum was beyond belief.
She arrived home and thought her place had been trashed by vandals. Before she found the body. She moved soon after.

What is it about these nuisances. We built a new house in Townsville and before the first year was up a Gecko got into the TV and blew it up, a cockroach got fried on the circuit board of the dishwasher and blew that up and a frog did the same thing to the air/conditioner the last two being new got fixed under warranty. Never seen a rat though maybe they were all down the chook houses.

What a shocking surprise for your Mum's friend sad that she had to move out of her home..

Oh I got a story for ya. Now this was before I was born but two of my uncles were culling a couple of chicken hen's back on the farm and while in the process of chopping off the chicken's head one of my uncles accidently chopped off his brothers finger, my grandmother said that while my uncle was screaming bloody murder one of the live chickens ran up and grabed the cut off finger and chunked it down. My grandmother wasn't able to catch the correct chicken to try and retrive the finger. My uncle is still living and is probably close to 75 years old and every time I see him with his finger missing I still can picture that chicken running around with the finger and my grandmother running after it.
