Oh how awful!! Poor birds!

Ugh. I wish I could 'unsee' that.

I argued with someone on the garden clinic forum a few years ago, I was trying to insist the sticky type traps are not acceptable for use outside a greenhouse or enclosure - he didn't believe me and I didn't convince him. They do trap small birds that are attracted to the insects stuck there. If these are designed for wasps, surely unwisely intended for outdoors.

I'm looking at a chickadee sitting on my shepherds hook hummingbird feeder right now, I'd feel terrible if I'd done something to harm one.

Horrible things....all of those sticky glue traps. They make them for mice, spiders, and whiteflies in the garden.

It's absolutely horrible to see birds, butterflies, bees, lizards like anoles, toads, tree frogs, or snakes trapped by these devices.

That is terrible! I wish I could 'unsee' it too. We have a really bad problem with yellow jackets every summer but we use traps that only will trap them, not any other animal. They must have something like it for wasps.

I agree....horrible. Wasps don't bother me at all. There are five big nests of them on my porch ceiling now. My husband said he was going to spray them. I said, "The hell you are. They aren't bothering anyone.". Well, certainly not me.

I don't understand why anyone thought this would be a good idea. I especially don't understand how anyone could buy one. Why? Birds can't read. Neither can butterflies, and bumble bees. They don't know this stupid invention is was meant for wasps. It's an oversized four sided sticky mouse trap. Hello.

MiMi, thank you for sharing. I don't know whether these horrible things are sold in the U.S. or not, but the more this gets out, the better.

I don't know my manufacturers think it's okay to develop and sell any kind of sticky trap. As Debby said, animals can't read, they don't know what they are. I'm sure more innocent animals, birds and insects get killed than the ones they're intended for.

And, NO living creature needs to die a slow, agonizing horrible death as these things provide.

I live in the US, Oklahoma and saw them in Lowe's just a few days ago... so they are sold here unfortunately. They also make these in smaller sizes for flies, about 1" wide, it's a curly tape you hang.

Oh I remember the curly sticky tapes for flies, growing up. Every house and farmhouse had them hanging from the ceilings!

Jasdip.. back in the 80's I hung one of those curly sticky tapes for flies in the garage, right outside the utility room door. That curly bouncy thing was more then the cat could stand, you know cats, play with anything that moves. It stuck to him and it pulled it down, then it got stuck around his whole body and I could not get it off. It required a trip to the groomers for a complete shave.

Humans are so cruel to animals. Even wasps don't deserve a slow and painful death. I don't understand why we think we own the planet and everything on it. I do my best not to kill anything. Bugs get escorted outside.

People who use sticky traps are cruel. I think you can tell a lot about a person by how they treat other living things.

Totally agree with anyone who puts out these horrid traps of any kind which would make animals and birds suffer. HATE bug zappers too because they kill "good" bugs.
