All of these are great roses, good for growing in Qld. I believe.

Pinks: Belle Isis, Desirée Parmentier, Ypsilante, Jacques Cartier, Stanwell Perpetual, Damascena Bifera.
Pink-crimson: Cramoisi Pictoté, Rose de Rescht.
Crimsons: Charles de Mills, Alain Blanchard, Roseraie de l'Hay, Parfum de l'Hay.

Others will come with more suggestion, so I'll go for now.

You need to decide what sort of Roses you like. The 2 you mentioned are modern Hybrid Tea roses whilst those suggested by Tom are, I think mostly Old Roses - a very different type of plant. I happen to dislike HT'S - find them too stiff - others adore them, I go mostly for Floribundas and David Austins because I want the shrubby look of old roses but with recurrent flowering. Your best bet is to get a catalogue such as Treloars (www.treloarroses.com.au), pour over the beautiful photos and decide what sort of bush you want and then come up with a short list. We also have hot humid summers and I then do further research in Botanicas Roses to avoid any that are not described as being very disease resistant. Hope this helps. Hi Marnie I have Camp David, also not happy with the colour red I was told it was the darkest red rose thats not so here in brissie. Its a medium red with black markings could have something to do with the weather I could not find the photo so have added the link from a post I put in in Dec down the bottom under the photo..... From all those photo's the only ones that are any good here are Seduction its my best rose . Mary Rose the DA is blooming at present its not too bad and Bonica does well here too all pink no photo Old roses to grow better here also noisettes.. I picked these a few days ago...Dark Pink Mary Rose.
White with pink frilly edges also dark pink bud at bottom Seduction ..
The Cream one is Edelweiss dont bother I only get a couple of good blooms a season from it..

Thanks Misty the rose care guide on the link you provided kinda clears up the when to prune decision for me with a few more pointers, ah common sense in pruning. Good to know which roses survive and thrive. Put seduction on my list so there's one that will last.

On my shortlist: Radox boquet, perfume perfection, seduction, love potion and sea foam. THe ambitious ones are crocus rose and Jubilee celebration (god help me and the hankering for frilly roses but I just have to have crocus rose). The maybes are Rose Professor Seiber and Louisa Stone if I can find somewhere to fit them in, they're shorter(height of 1m or thereabouts and flowering were the main indicators with scent an advantage). Has anyone had problems with these roses?

Its probably a bit soon to recommend but Kordes Angela (Korday)...the bush has nigh on doubled in size in just a few months and its getting buds in abundance. I thought it was going to be abundantly leafy and never flower. It really shot up after an application of Charly Carp - it started off about 20cm, in 3 months its nearly 50cm in height and with a predicted 1.2m it may do better than that. Tiny bright rose pink flowers of the double kind with a simple style, short stemmed and no scent. The colour holds. Its thriving better than the icebergs as in "very robust healthy plant that is free flowering over a long period and produces flowers in large clusters" and for once just as the tag says. I guess if you want to put it in a vase you'd be cutting off a cluster rather than a stem. If you love iceberg then Angela does it better I believe. But then maybe it won't thrive all year like that - the test is December and I'm still waiting for the bush to put on a show of flowers. The bud development is a little slower than i/berg but happily the first flower is out and it lasts a lot longer in a vase. Worth a shot I think to put it in a Bris garden. Its even doing better than my renegade Dr Huey and those slow starting potted carpet roses (what was I thinking).

Thanks MM, what a lovely photo, can't wait to have some of my own. The reason I mentioned Camp David is that my Mum was recently given one in Wondai,(different climate and soil) and though I've not seen it in flower, have had to listen to her sing its praises which she does!! She loves it, so thought I would too. I will send for the catalogue and do my homework, I'd like to try to get it right this time. Cheers Marnie
