Advice wanted from folk living in South/ West/Aust

Hope I can pick your brains here.....

DH and I have just put in an offer on a 4.5 acre block in Mt Barker, it is a low lying fairly wet block, which is just what we wanted. We would like to be able to grow some fruit and our own veg and also plant trees and shrubs, it is ex farmland so bare. The problem is.... there are 'roo's that graze on the block. The question's are....does anyone know what will grow (tree/shrubs) in wet conditions that the 'roo's don't like?.....There are Paper-bark type tree's doing very nicely on the block behind, a smallish tree, anyone any idea what species it may be?

This is going to be our retirement home and we are hoping to spend the next 7 years till we retire planting the perimeter at least.

Thank you,

Cheryl.
