Another problem - heliconia this time

Well I have finally found some time to do some work in the garden after a fair bit of neglect (not from not wanting to do anything but tooooooo busy). I have this heliconia Heliconia angusta "Holiday Xmas" it is in a semi-shade (more sun) and the leaves have been marked as per the photo for a couple of seasons - does not seem to upset the flowering though - have heaps of other heliconias in the garden and they have no problems.

my 'red holiday'has never done much.
I can say it's one of the worst performers in my Garden.

I've just had a closer look at my yellow augustas and they are showing the same problem, though to a lesser extent. My heliconias have had a lot of grasshopper damage this year but I think at least some of the damage to the augustas may have been caused by small snails and slugs when the leaves were younger. Maybe the browning was caused by sunburn or a fertilizer problem (too much or too little?) My yellows are starting to flower now - a little earlier than last season.

I'll have to agree with Ian - my red Holiday flowered very poorly last year and doesn't show much potential for a good show this year either. All other heliconias performing well.

Ha! Sorta what I was thinkin'. Well, other than a larger flower, I'm probably happier to have a large clump of SC since it reblooms. I'll just move them together so I will have a spot for a new daylily! No big deal, I don't really buy from the box store unless it is on good clearance or I see it in bloom. I saw this one in bloom, but it looked like the picture on the tag to me. But it was on clearance too so I didn't pay much for it anyway!

Don, and Dan, The pleasure of your visit yesterday was all ours. I hope my switch of hamburgers for hotdogs was O.K., heheheh.
