Annette, I think you deserve all five. Ana, I don't think I can email my puzzle. I used crossword-making software that is free to try, but you can't print with it until you buy it. Maybe I could email a screenshot. I'll check it out. Cynthia, I'll bet it's not beyond you. I could never make a crossword puzzle all on my own, and I'm amazed by people who can. I'm using a program that makes the word fill a lot easier. It will give you a list of possible words for whatever position you need to fill. You pick one, and go on. When you get the grid all filled in to your satisfaction, you write the clues, which is the fun part for me. It still takes time, but not nearly as much. You can even have the software completely fill in the whole grid for you in about one second, but you'll end up with lots of odd words and abbreviations. I think the pros almost all use this kind of software now, though they probably don't have to. TM

Oh you guys - you won't get fooled again!! lol. Yes, Cass Elliot and Keith Moon!! At the height of her solo career in 1974, Elliot performed two weeks of sold-out concerts at the London Palladium. She telephoned Michelle Phillips after the final concert on July 24th, utterly elated that she had received standing ovations each night. She then retired for the evening, and died in her sleep. She was 32. Although some sources claim her death was due to a heart attack or heart failure, her death certificate attributes death to "fatty myocardial degeneration due to obesity", a form of steatosis. Keith Moon and his girlfriend had been out that evening with Paul & Linda McCartney, to see the premier of The Buddy Holly Story. Moon then took 32 tablets of Clomethiazole (Heminevrin). The medication was a sedative he had been prescribed to alleviate his alcohol withdrawal symptoms as he tried to go dry on his own at home; he was desperate to get clean, but was terrified of another stay in the psychiatric hospital for in-patient detoxification. However, Clomethiazole is specifically contraindicated for unsupervised home detox because of its addictiveness, tendency to rapidly induce drug tolerance and dangerously high risk of death when mixed with alcohol. The pills were also prescribed by a new doctor, Dr. Geoffrey Dymond, who was unaware of Moon's recklessly impulsive nature and long history of prescription sedative abuse. He had given Moon a full bottle of 100 pills, and instructed him to take one whenever he felt a craving for alcohol (but not more than 3 per day). The police determined there were 32 pills in his system, with the digestion of 6 being sufficient to cause his death, and the other 26 of which were still undissolved when he died. Harry Nilsson who owned the flat was so distraught over the deaths of his two friends that he sold it to Moon's bandmate Pete Townshend and spent the rest of his life in Los Angeles. After the death of John Lennon, he began to appear at Beatlefest conventions to raise money for gun control and he would get on stage with the Beatlefest house band "Liverpool" to either sing some of his own songs or "Give Peace a Chance." Nilsson made his last concert appearance September 1, 1992, when he joined Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band on stage at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Nilsson suffered a massive heart attack in 1993. After surviving that, he began pressing his old label, RCA, to release a boxed-set retrospective of his career, and resumed recording, attempting to complete one final album. He finished the vocal tracks for the album with producer Mark Hudson(perhaps most famous in the non-musical world as the uncle of Kate Hudson), who still retains the tapes of that session. On January 15, 1994, Nilsson died of heart failure in his Agoura Hills, California home. According to his wife, they had been watching Enchanted April, and the last thing he told her before she fell asleep was, "I love you so much." During Nilsson's funeral on January 17, aftershocks from the 1994 Los Angeles earthquake were felt. Young and beautiful forever, and like the song says, you know they got a hell of a band in heaven! Now, on to stars: for Annette, mnswgal and greylady-gardener. Thanks for playing with me!!! Nancy.

lol - and TM that is what clues are for - to try to make it obvious. Well, I'm glad I worked you all a little this week. Captain Nemo (in Latin Nobody) also known as Prince Dakkar is a fictional character invented by the French science fiction author Jules Verne (1828 - 1905). Nemo appears in two of Verne's novels, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870) and The Mysterious Island (1874), and makes a cameo appearance in Verne's play Journey Through the Impossible (1882). Nemo, one of the most famous antiheroes in fiction, is a mysterious figure. The son of an Indian Raja, he is a scientific genius who roams the depths of the sea in his submarine, the Nautilus, which was built on a deserted island. Nemo tries to project a stern, controlled confidence, but he is driven by a thirst for vengeance and a hatred of imperialism focused on the British Empire. He is also wracked by remorse over the deaths of his crew members and even by the deaths of enemy sailors. Nemo has appeared in various adaptations of Verne's novels, including films, where he has been portrayed by a number of different actors. He has furthermore been adopted by other authors for inclusion in their novels, most notably in Alan Moore's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Philip José Farmer's The Other Log of Phileas Fogg. Nemo is Latin for "no one", and also (as ýíüÃÂ) Greek for "I give what is due" (see Nemesis). Nemo is, moreover, the Latin rendering of Ancient Greek Outis ("Nobody"), the pseudonym adopted by Odysseus, in Greek mythology " a ruse employed to outwit the cyclops Polyphemus. So there you all go- you got it in the end, but Annette I forget that film references are your forte - bravo my friend. Thanks to all for playing. See you all next week. Nancy.

Okay, now to stars... **** for Honalee, Bobbie, Nancy, and Annette *** for Lorna for knowing the country TM, do I owe you stars? The ancient city is Teotihuacan which is 30 miles north of Mexico City. One website says it is pronounced tay-oh-tee-wah-KAHN. The Avenue of the Dead runs between the Pyramid of the Moon and the Pyramid of the Sun. Here is a little on the site. From the NY Times: Although some of their most important buildings and ceremonial centers, along with the remains of some of those killed in sacrifice, have been dug out of the ground, little is known about the first inhabitants' way of life. And there is even less understanding of why they later abandoned the awesome city they had built over centuries. No one knows exactly what to call the bands of farmers who first settled this part of the Mexico Valley around 300 B.C. They mined obsidian from the ground and turned the black rock, which is smooth as crystal and makes the sharpest edge known, into knives and tools that they used to become masterful artisans, and that they eventually traded across the Americas. This largely peaceful society of farmers and artisans -- weavers and sculptors, painters and pot makers -- was led by an elite class of religious rulers. Mainly through commerce, the society's influence spread to the Mayan cities of Central America. The 100,000 residents of Teotihuacan enjoyed systems for using underground wells and for collecting rain. There were over 2,000 labyrinthine housing complexes and artisan workshops, markets and temples. And the residents built a ceremonial center that could hold 40,000 people for their ceremonies to honor gods of the sun, the moon and the rain, and to Quetzalcoatl, the plumed serpent. Then, in the seventh century, they fled the riches they had built. Some speculate that forces of nature, most likely a drought, compelled the inhabitants of the city to leave their homes. Others say it was an attack by invaders, or even an internal revolt. Hundreds of years later, the abandoned city was rediscovered by the Aztecs, who kept it as a kind of shrine and found its pyramids so impressive they named it Teotihuacan, ''the city of the gods.'' Almost none of the remaining walls of the two larger pyramids of the sun and the moon are original. When the government began excavating the pyramids at the beginning of the 20th century, it used dynamite to blow open the hills and wound up toppling much of the pyramids. Still, though mere imitations of what they once were, the pyramids are fantastic in size. They are solid, rather than hollow, structures that served as towering altars to the gods. Both can and should be climbed, although it is strenuous and not for those who are afraid of heights. Congratulations to all you knowledgeable folks! Thanks for playing. Cynthia
