what tropical or sub tropical fruits do you grow?

just a question post thingy to see what sort of tropical fruits GWers grow (or try to grow)

I'll start with my list:

banana - lady finger

lychee

longan

loquat (not strictly tropical)

tropical nectarine

orange (not strictly tropical)

lemon (not strictly tropical)

cape gooseberry

passionfruit

monstera deliciosa

pepino (not strictly tropical)

cashew

carambola

mango

paw paw

ice cream bean

lilli pilli

brasilian cherry

Several different varieties of lillipillies including jambos
Common papaws, round orangy coloured ones and long orange ones
Lady finger bananas (2 big bunches have just ripened up at once - bananas everywhere!)
Mangos (when the horse stops eating them :( )
Jaboticaba
Grumichama
Orange - has its first 4 fruit on it (get lemons and limes from a neighbour)
Guavas (growing wild in paddock)
Passionfruit
Monstera
Strawberries

Not all are tropical obviously.

Most trees are still only small and we are slowly buying more. Used to have cape gooseberry but something kept eating them and must get a loquat as loved them when I was a kid.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Barb! look at all of those flowers! Those violets are pretty but they are a real pest here! spread like wiregrass! You really make me miss tulips too! (I knew winter was good for something!) Is that a trillium at the top! I can't remember the last time I saw a trillium!I am sorry to hear that Al has pain, I have suffered from hip/joint pain for several years, the doctors have told me the best treatment is 'keep moving' grrrr, sometimes it is very tough to do. Regina I am happy that you are getting some rain! (I hate to complain about water from the sky but it is still raining off and on here! The plants are loving it, but it sure makes it unpleasant outside (muggy, mosquitos and soggy) That Brug is beautiful! I can't wait till mine bloom, I have 3 potted and one in the ground, I just love those leaves! Even if they didn't have flowers My elephant ears hit the ground running too, all this water really perked them up. I cannot believe the size of the leaf on one of them (Is it my imagination or are those leafs still growing?!?!) Here is a photo of some of the plants Michelle sent (see the little rose that bloomed in the box!!! 9 different coleus cuttings!!! can't wait to pot those up! they are gorgeous! Hi Everyone! Stressed to the max here and going crazy as always! My sister is stabilized and she has convinced them to let her go home!!! Crazy girl! anyway seems like things may be calming down and I can get ready for my 'regular' summer excursions! I got a big box from Brecks yesterday and am trying to get my head around all of these new bulbs. I bought a 'grabbag' last year and most of the plants didn't do well in the dry heat, so they replaced it. WOW did they replace it!!!! I don't mind telling you I would pay a little extra for Brecks bulbs every day of the week! Their perennials not so much, but their bulbs are OUTSTANDING! Trying to figure out where to plant all of these beauties!!! (pineapple lily, peruvian daffodil, lily trees, aaaahhhh, so many flowers so little space) Who knew bulbs sould be so big!!! Look forward to some of these for Barb's fall/winter swap! Tammy, Side Swap box is any trade arranged outside of the organized/assigned swap. :) more goodies to share! Seemed appropriate for a 'surplus' swap! Chell flower what a wonderful box! to send and to recieve!!! Bigmama, I wish I could swap with you, but these coleus have just arrived! I am just rooting them now, but I will probably be looking for homes for the whole plants when fall comes, (I can't keep them over winter) perhaps we can do a trade then or for cuttings when they get a little bigger! I've never seen root rot on a jaboticaba. Mine, which are in ground of course, are in the lowest point in my entire property. There have been some multi-day rain events that have left standing water in this area for a full 10 days without any root issues. During dry season, I'll let the hose run completely flooding the area. That doesn't leave any standing water for more than a day, but I usually have to do it a day or two in a row before flowering commences. Good luck. Harry

Ethan, right now I'm agonizing over the inside of my greenhouse! I'm at a point where the plants I was going to put into the ground either need to "go" into the ground or a larger and final container. A big part of me wants them in the ground but man it will be a lot of work! I'll get some pics to you later.

Not much on our block, we have terrible soil especially down the back where all the Sun is, I have planted different trees some have died ( waterlogged when we have these huge downpours ) others like Honey Murcott mandarine I pulled out as all they grew were little orange bullets. I replaced it with a Tropical Sundowner Nectarine and that will get pulled out next year too if the fruit have fruit fly in them again and two of the best Mango trees only small but each tree gave us four mango's which we ate two weeks ago.. Gosh I almost forgot the pineapples after four years of no fruit I pulled most of them out but there are still a few near the chook house..
