I don't know how may different ones now. I have about 20 different ones now. Some are tiny house plants sold in lots of stores now. Like the overseas hybrids; And the most popular house plants now; And this fancy hybrid with square leaves; All staying mostly small under one foot that can easily be kept as house plants. And there are those hardy to minus 10 below to keep in northern gardens. (must be kept dry thru winter).

Thank you all for your responses. @jackowskib I have some garden beds in the backyard so wont be using the front yard for herbs. @HU-457756048 The area gets around 4-5 hours of morning and afternoon sun till about 2:30pm as it's facing NE. Some of the soil is dry, particularly behind the tree. The only evergreen plant there is a creeping juniper that's on the right side of the tree. I'm thinking maybe tall grasses? Like the giant chinese silver grass behind and right of the tree for some privacy. Would that be a good idea? The tree is spruce and no leaf fall except cones and needles. Which tall plants would you recommend for part shade and sun, and privacy? @gardengal48 (PNW Z8/9) that sounds like a good idea for the path. :) @woodyoak the reason for the path is to make the area a little cozy and cottage-like. You're right about the concrete path meeting the stone path which leads into the front yard. That was my plan. There is a slope in the grass that meets the concrete path and I'm in the process of digging the grass out to plant some flowers there.

Did you guys catch my 55' of roses next to the driveway? I posted pics in June, when they were at their best, in the Rose Gallery or Rose forums. They're still blooming a second flush, and many have new buds on them. I have a new side porch being constructed, so there's stuff temporarily laid all over the driveway, preventing nice new pics from being taken for now. Hopefully the porch and new railing will be done this week so I can get the driveway all cleared. And Ken, you used the CORRECT language about the NY co-op management, LOL. I'm also supplying my neighbors with fresh zucchini and cukes from the backyard. Soon to be supplanted with fresh eggplants, strawberries, and cantaloupe, I hope.
