About a 'Mock Gardenia'?

I bought a 'mock gardenia' at the markets yesterday but know nothing about it. Can anyone help please? It looks healthy, has 'similar' leaves to a gardenia and one bud is about to open but other than that I have'nt a clue what to expect?

It is also known as Crepe Gardinia, Pinwheel Jasmine , and Grape Jasmine, have a look at the link below its under ( Tabernaemontana divaricata ) so the mind boggles at what its right name is.

My mother used to have one several years ago. Very similar to an ordinary gardenia but not perfumed (we didn't notice any and it was right outside their bedroom window), and more upright, grew to about 1.5 to 2m. Tough and easy to grow. I know they are a Tabernaemontana, as MM says but not sure what type.

My observation about bud blast on Gardenia

Radha, check at base of buds. if you see white you probably have aphids (even though there are about 5 other critters it could be). My buds began with partial opening and then would drop. They were also yellow. I tried everything i could find on the internet and asked everyone i knew that was plant knowledgable. Finally sprayed with 1-1/2 t Neem Oil + 1t Blue Dawn + 1 litre water. That was 2 days ago Most yellow leaves are gone. Leaves dark green. No buds yet but will treat again in 5 days then 2 weeks. Good luck

I too, have a tiny one that I brought in July last year so I am learning about their growing habits still. I am not quite sure what you mean by "it's growing crooked!". Not just Gardenia but any plant will grow according to it's natural growth habit when an ideal growing environment is provided. Does the plant receive light from above? Maybe it just wants to sprawl toward the light source. Look at mine. It did absolutely nothing then just exploded within the last month or so. I do need to reconsider it's culturing conditions!

Thanks for the info guys, now I know how big it gets I can put it in the right spot. It sounds like it will be an interesting shrub and a good screen plant.
