needed: a very, very clever computer person

Is there anyone out there who is, or knows of, someone who could change something in a game I have?

I bought a really good Mahongg game with 3D effects and lots of different tiles and layouts, etc.

The major problem is that the little pointy thing you move around is seriously DISTURBED....it is very touchy and if you only move your mouse a fraction of an inch, it does nothing for a couple of seconds then jumps across about 3inches and usually in the wrong direction.

I have tried it on another computer and it does the same thing.

I figured it was only a matter of getting used to it but I can't.......it's driving me nuts.

I figured the file (or whatever you call it) in the main design of the program needs adjusting.

Of course, I have no idea how to do this.

Does anyone "out there" know how to do this?

Annie, you're going to have to tell us the name (and maybe the version) of the mahjong program you're using, as well as the system running on your computer (WinXP?).

[Am not v. clever, just curious ...]

Well, I suppose that would be helpful, would it? ...er...duh! :))))

I'm have Windows XP and the game is from Nodtronics "Eureka's Ultimate Mah Jongg".
After I posted this, I had a look at their website and I sent them an email, describing what it does.
Maybe, they might have a solution...that is, if they answer me at all.

Yeah, when you do get him on insurance... also, he can have his testosterone levels checked.. there is patches and pills if it's low. They need their poor testosterone. :o) Beware of what you ask for, if he gets over his manly fears and gets it fixed.... are you ready for it? :D

The organization of our remodeled kitchen has really helped. I was fortunate that we could rework our kitchen so that we could add more cabinetry. Creative nesting and unnesting of objects in the few cabinets in our old kitchen was so annoying that I really hated putting anything away. I love having a variety of cabinetry. I'm not of the drawer-for-all-purposes ilk. I love matching the items I want to store to the right type of cabinet. For instance, my large mixing bowls, stainless and glass, are on the bottom shelf of a door cabinet. It's really simple to open a door and get a good view of the bowls from the side (instead of a view of the top items only in a drawer) and to grab a bowl from the bottom of the stack without having the sides of a drawer interfering. I would hate having to pull out the entire stack of bowls every time I wanted one near the bottom. I use a variety of these bowls just about every time I prepare something and for me, the fixed shelf is the ideal spot. An all-drawer kitchen would have forced me to compromise. I love having lots of upper shelves. I can space them as closely as possible to make as much of the vertical space as I can. The more surfaces I have, the less nesting I have to do. Roll outs, although not as convenient as drawers, allow better use of vertical space. If a drawer is too deep space is wasted and if a drawer is too shallow it's unusable. I prioritized storage so that my most used items are in a drawer, on an upper shelf or in the front of a roll out or fixed shelf. Lesser and rarely used items get placed in the less convenient spots. That way, I have easy access to everything I need 90-95% of the time while keeping the flexibility of vertical space management with some non-drawer cabinets sprinkled in. My kitchen still gets messy but it always feels under control because I can zoom around the kitchen and get things put away quickly since a lot of nesting isn't involved. And I agree, our dw dish drawers have also helped with kitchen tidiness. It's a lot less daunting when only half a dw at a time has to be unloaded. I hated getting down on the floor in my old kitchen to find something on the shelf of a base cabinet. But I love the fixed shelf base cabinet that I have in my new kitchen because I was able to pick and choose the items that are best stored there. This type of cabinet offers more storage than any of my drawer or pull out cabinets. I think an all-or-nothing approach forces items to be stored in less than ideal spots. I would hate having my large bowls in a drawer but conversely, I would hate having my pots and pans on a fixed shelf. Adding some variety allows options and in mho, a better chance for optimizing storage.

As of last night the question has become a moot point. I've changed the furniture arrangement and the table there now is more for decorative purposes because it will be possible to place items on the coffee table (assuming you can find room on it, I have to say). Later on I'll take pictures and start a new post because I'm very excited about what I've come up with. We actually have few guests, living in the country and being rather content with our own company most of the time. I've given up on the idea of painting the little table; I don't think it's necessary now.

..so to round up, if I'm allowed to do so-one can already see what parenthood looks like) Whatever a mother (or parents) will do-some won't like it or would do it differently. Sometimes as a society, sometimes as a community, and sometimes, in her own family. (and latter is very often..saying it as a loving daughter who's just back from visiting her Mom)) So dear Beagles, you know that you make your decisions in a way that seems right to you, under circmustances that are best known to you, with knowledge and considerations available to you in the moment, and with love, and hope, and faith-because that's what we basically have with us when we make this big decision to give a life to somebody. Who is born into a certain family, certain times, certain place, you name it. You chose for him-but plenty of things were chosen for you too. You have a limited amount of control, and you do with it the best you can. "Perfect" doesn't exist anyway and one shouldn't strive for it imo. Good enough is great though because it is full of life, real life-and it is achievable. So you pick up a book that makes sense for you, so to say( to me was Dr. Spock-and I'm fully aware many others hated him, but I found him incredibly calming. Maybe Ukranian trabslation did its magic? lol)and try to worry less.(obviously "a book" can be a theory, a bunch of ideas, a gut feeling, an example you were impressed with, and many other things. Said "a book" to make it shorter) I imagine it's very overwhelming to hear so many opinions at once at the time when one is so vulnerable and has to decide fast. It's overwhelming to me-and I dodn't have to make any decision)) Again, I'm barbaric so I did the procedure, and healing went well. If I was not barbaric maybe I wouldn't even think of doing the procedure, and it'd be just as fine, and then I wouldn't be able to describe my anecdotal evidence of how the healing went, so that's my very limited and modest input. I did it, and in our case, healing went well. I'm surrounded both by people who were circumsized and these who were not (starting with my own immediate family)-and that's not what makes a major difference, neither to me, nor, as far as I can judge, (or from what I could ask) to them. Not in daily life, not to their characters, not to nothing the sharp human eye like mine may discern)) Whatever you do/don't in this case..the chance it will be fine either way is huge. Hugs, April

Alas, I'm not familiar with that program. What you can do is explore all the user options within the program, shown by the menu at the top of the page when you run the program. (It could be 'Configuration' or 'Layout' or 'Preferences' or somesuch.) I don't know if you'll have any luck, though, because what you describe sounds like a bug or at least an incompatibility with your operating system or possibly hardware, in which case it's not something you can fix within the program itself. Hopefully the software developers will respond to your query, although this generally takes some time. Good luck.

Annie do you have an optical mouse or a ball mouse? If you have an optical mouse try cleaning the bottom of the
mouse or the surface you use it on. If you have a ball mouse take the ball out and clean it.
If that doesnt work , buy a new mouse!

g'day annie,

osunds like a mouse related problem as you said this mouse does the same thing on another computer. yes could be that the mouse needs a clean if it is an optical mouse they can get a bit finacky the best help i got was to buy a mouse pad the one with the shark skin type appearance and with no patterns on it just plain colour that fixed a lot of my problems and cleaning fixed it a bit more.

i also find my mouse wants to do odd things if i end up with malware onboard so i run my anti-spyware often. the other program i use, and i have win98, is (regclean) not sure if xp has similar program but there is bound to be one out ther somewhere, do a google for free download for a registry cleaner for xp.

also could help to reinstall the mouse drivers or check to see if there are any conflicts concerning the mouse, don't know if you access the usenet (news groups)? but this is a good question for the (aus.computers) crowd they usually provide good help. also are you up to date with your (critical updates) from m$? also so maybe reload xp to refresh it might be the go? do your housekeeping as well i find all this sort of stuff helps keep things running fairly well.

keep us updated we all learn from these problems, but for me my next box will be run by other than m$ o/s's i reckon just about had enough of the unreliability and shakyness of their stuff.

You see,I really don't think it's a mouse problem ie my particular mouse because it doesn't happen on any other game or the internet.
I did get a reply from the website. He asked me for my computer's operating info which I've sent.
I'm now waiting on what he's going to say about that.
Hope it's not too technical! :)))

Can you turn off the 3D effects? At least temporarily until the problem is worked out. Sometimes 3D effects can cause the cursor to hang. I've had similar problems with various programs especially if another program is working in the background eg anti-virus. Also try turning off special effects and/or music etc. Is your graphics cards suitable? (I don't know much about graphics cards except you may need a bigger or newer one. Looks like a good game though.

If it is not the mouse Goldhills could be on the right track. It could be your graphics card is not fast enough or not enough memory and the mouse cannot keep up. Check your mouse pad. If it is worn or one of those yucky smooth types the track ball isn't gripping the pad and not rolling smoothly or the ball wants cleaning. Do you have a remote mouse like radio control or cordless? these have a whole range of problems. Is it compatible with XP.? You may have to download new drivers. Check the batteries in the mouse. If your mouse is a remote device you can email me direct as there are a few special problems I don't want to go into detail here if it is unnecesary. Doug.
