Where do you buy your vegetable plants?

I have been vegetable gardening for only 2 years. First year I bought all of my plants at a farm stand in Merrick (on Merrick Ave- Furgie's?) and all was amazing. Great prices, wonderfull plants. Last year they could not get their act together. Plants were late comming in because of unseasonably cool weather (plants are from a farm in upstate NY), poor selection for the same reason. I bought 3 types of tomatoes- beefsteak, roma & cherry- the roma were all miss marked and were beefsteak. Very frustrated with them. I am near Dee's in Oceanside, but I cannot bring myself to pay $4 per plant. I dont need large plants. I ended up at Atlantic in Freeport for much of what I needed.

I realized that I used to shop a Franks alot. Boy oh boy I do miss them.

Any recommendations on where you all get your vegie plants from?

I have to try winter sowing next year. Its still not too late, so I will try some lettuce and see what happens.

anybody?- Candace
