Do any of you use Photoshop...?

Do any of you use PS to fix or brush up your pictures? I have alot of fun with it myself...

For instance, these two are the same picture, but with a little photoshop magic, they are two totally different landscapes and time of day.

With this one, I just brought out the colors that really were there, but I failed to capture them with the poor lighting.

I use Photoshop CS and Camera Raw for all my images. Most of the time I
do minor touch up to images to convey what my "minds eye" wants to see.
But, It really shines at recovering what would otherwise be lousy photos.
Here's an example. It was a heavy overcast day with bright patches in the
sky. I know I should have played with bracketing and such, but I was just
lazy that day and here was the result:

This is what I did to it:
-shadow/highlight adjustment
-unsharp mask: radius=60, amount 20%. This enhances local contrast and
gives the picture a little more "pop"
-unsharp mask: radius=0.5, amount 75%. This helped to bring out some
detail, especially in the hazy areas.
-hue and saturation: selectively bumped up the saturation in the reds and
yellows.

I have a question I just ordered photoshop elements 3.0. (It was supposed to have come with digital rebel but since I bought it second hand I didn't get it) Anyway how much ram do you need to run it on your computer I ask because it says 256mb is okay but it should be 512mb I assume you both have alot more ram? Sarah

I zoom it up a little, not too much, use the magic wand and select the red, play with the tolerance until I get the entire area I want selected (marching ants more or less circular around the spot). Then I hold down the plus key and repeat with the other eye. Then I Select>Feather by about 2 pixels. Then I use Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation, choose the red channel in the drop down menu, adjust the sliders on the bottom to pick up all the reddish hues in the selected areas, then turn down the saturation until the red is gone. If it looks washed out, turn the lightness slider to darker. It's easy once you've done it a couple of times and amazingly precise. For large prints, you may have to paint back in the natural eye color, but for 4X6 prints, little flaws don't show. I have done it the tedious way by zooming up and painting pixels, too much trouble unless you've got a real mess.

I don't use Elements. I believe it's for Photo Editing specifically. ??? What you want to do kinda, sorta isn't really editing a photo. Another way to look at it is, you're creating a new image and the photo you have just happens to be what your start with to build the image. The things that will help you with color are Channel Mixer (RGB), Color Picker, Custom Color in the Picker, Swatches and Swatch Libraries. Layers, grayscale, opacity, and luminosity are also useful. If I remember correctly, PS Elements does not have a Channel Mixer but everything else - I think. So you're going to have to Google for tutorials or buy a book. Sitting there just clicking and playing with it will yeild some advancement, but probably nothing that's going to significantly make a difference and move you forward. There's nothing about Adobe that is user friendly and the average person can not buy a package and figure out how to use the software in just a couple hours. I've been working with various Adobe products for many years and I still get stumped sometimes. One of the home visualizer paint programs is a good suggestion. It might cost $10-$40 or whatever but they are a whole lot easier to figure out. The color quality offered in those programs leaves a lot to be desired. Can't pay any attention to the paint color names. You have to look at the colors offered and try to *match* them up to the paint chip colors you want to see.

I found what I was looking for. I have only gotten to the 3rd post or so. But the search for safe plastic has definitely been discussed. I still have to look into glues and pumps. I don't know if gutters will say what they are made of. This new world of hydroponics for me is so fun. The link below is internal from this site. But it is off to a good start for me. Do any of you use the Persil Sensitive ProClean type? Did you notice?

Did you notice that it has changed? I was really happy with this back last year when it was in a clear container with the liquid being kind of a milky white color. Back it up a bit for me to say that I am EXTREMELY sensitive to laundry detergents these days and I found this to be the only thing I had found that I could use without any issue. So then it became hard to find and when it came back, it was packaged in a white jug with a clear liquid inside. I thought "OH NO!" but I went ahead and bought it. It seemed OK but then after using it for a couple of weeks, I began to itch again. I cannot find anything on line that says it changed but obviously it did because it was milky in color before but now it is clear. So just that said it's not the exact same thing. I am so frustrated with not being able to find a detergent I can use and when I do find something, it will change unexpectedly. UGH! Have any of you tried that ECOS sensitive? I'm thinking of trying that one. What do you all use that are very sensitive?

I ran PE3 on my old 233MHz P2 computer, running Win98 with 256MB RAM with no problems. However, I didn't like the color intensity with PE3 so I uninstalled it and went back to PE2. I found the colors too vivid in PE3.

It wont be as fast as 512, but 256 should be plenty. I use PS 7.0 on 384MB RAM and it runs fine.

Hell all; Barnabus here

I too just baught a Rebel that had the PS-2 disk and it installed with out any trouble on my computer. My question is what about the instruction manual? I serched the disk and it's not on mine! Do any of you using PS have any suggestions as to where I can get the manual. Adobe does not have it there internet site.

Mitchell M, in the first photo, did you remove the tree on the left and the tops of the trees just over the hill on the right, using Photoshop? How did you change(the position of) the clouds?

Wow! I just got PS CS today for my birthday...I am a litle afraid of it. Looks like fun though. Any pointers on learning it? I can't believe I have to be gone all day tomorrow and can't play with it....

Kentuck_8: Yeah, I used Photoshop to do that. Its actually very simple, but hard to explain how just using words.

For the clouds, I just Selected the entire sky, erased it, created a new layer, and then put in clouds from another picture in that second layer. Then I just changed the brightness/contrast from the original to make it look like evening.

Barnabus, I dont know about the version you have, but in the PS that I use, the instructions are in the Help tab in the program. Under that, its called Photoshop Help.

Cindy, PS CS is very powerful. You should have alot of fun with that once you get it down. I'm jealous.
