Hi Ellie, I looked into this for you, and it is caused by a bug in the gardenweb 'search lists' function. The exchange list search function is not working properly for members with punctuation symbols in their gardenweb names, i.e., creative.gardener and ellie-gardner. For example, performing a ÂSearch Lists for members who have daisy seed to trade does not return the correct results for the following members who have punctuation symbols in their names: country-gardener catherine-garden creative.garden ellie-gardener margi-rita mimi-grandma yogi-gardener Instead of the memberÂs name, followed by the seed name, the search function returns the following: ./data/seedtrade/catherine-garden:Becky shasta daisy (when I find out how to get their seeds) ./data/seedtrade/country-gardener:Daisy Gloriosa C=extra 07 ./data/seedtrade/country-gardener:Shasta Daisy Alaska C= extra 08 ./data/seedtrade/creative.garden:Alaska Shasta Daisy - Chrysanthemum maximum ./data/seedtrade/ellie-gardner:Bellis English daisy ./data/seedtrade/ellie-gardner:Thymophyllia Dahlberg Daisy ./data/seedtrade/margi-rita:coreopsis, pink cone flower, white shasta daisy, morning glory, hollyhocks, blue scabosia, & zinnias (mixed color). ./data/seedtrade/mimi-grandma:Shasta Daisy ./data/seedtrade/yogi-gardener:Shasta Daisy (G) Clicking on the links for any of the above takes you to a trade page for 'data', a non-existent member. I.e., click on ./data/seedtrade/ellie-gardner:Bellis English daisy, and you will be taken to http://members.gardenweb.com/members/exch/data/seedtrade/ellie-gardner:Bellis%20%20%20%20%20%20%20English%20daisy/ This bug prevents tradelists for members with punctuation symbols in their names from being accessible via the search function. I have reported this to gardenweb and will make a post about it on the exchange as well. Until they fix it, I think your only solution would be to come back under a different name sans punctuation symbols.

That's an odd one. Where I have Becky in south front with white paint on foundation (reflection), doesn't get total full sun during the day. I noticed her leaves looked droopy in the afternoon sun the other day, and it's not that hot yet, 3rd year for her, planted late summer so not a full 3 years. I now have a soaker hose hooked up there and put in on slow drip, perked her right up. And I've been using the soaker a lot because I've tried to get some seeds going between her that should not dry out. I had the same problem with a wilder kind of shasta daisies a couple years ago and no soaker hose then; I would be out in the hot sun watering them (which you really shouldn't). The following year I didn't need to water so much, but had to do some, then dug them all out. Becky has gotten pretty large and needs to be divided, but I amended the soil with peat and compost before I planted those. I've got some slow drip spikes on 2 liter bottles for some plants rather than having to fight with a very long soaker hose in back. My crazy daisy seems ok for now, but I know I'll have to water it later, and I don't have a bottle ready for that, just my roses. My ligularia does the same thing when the sun hits it in the afternoon, perks back up in the evening, but that is almost a total shade plant, so I can understand that better. My conclusion is that the beds drain well, dry out fast, and trees nearby soak up a lot of the water, but it might even be worse without the trees as Becky would be blasted with hot sun all day in the worst months.

Hi Fuzzbuzzle, I have just checked my nitidas and I have a few seeds but they are not ripe yet. One bush is covered with flowers so should get some seeds from that one soon. I would be happy to send you a few seedlings to be going on with until I get more seeds. In fact I would be happy to find them a good home. I don't like to waste the seeds of this lovely shrub and so I am always germinating them and then wondering what to do with them, so you are welcome to some. I would very much like to have a few seeds of your white Bauhinia and perhaps also some Brunfelsia grandiflora. I have the regular HD unknown purple Brunfelsia which is nothing special so your grandiflora will be a big improvement on that. email me at prionisland@gmail.com with your address etc. Thanks.
