Saturday and Sunday last week was the first Tulsa Master Gardeners Fall Festival. Had a chance to take lots of pictures in the gardens there. Here is the first:

My mom (center) sharing a meal with my father's cousin Peggy and her husband in their beautiful old Victorian house in the Berkshires. Peggy took in borders to make ends meet, and introduced me to rug hooking when I was a child. Childless herself, she was so kind to me after my mother died. I wasn't so crazy about her husband, although she seemed quite fond of him. :-)

Looking at this picture, which I recently scanned from a negative, I was surprised to see the circular bronze mirror hanging on the wall by the door. I have a pair of these over my mantle, and didn't realize they came originally from Peggy's house. She had a lot of antiques, so perhaps they're quite old.

Jodi, is that a photo? If so, how did you get it to look like that?

Mare, yes, that's a photo. I took it at dusk at the San Diego Wild Animal Park during an overnight stay called Roar and Snore. I have several photos that evening that came out kind of surreal.

By the way, the middle giraffe is not real. I think it was woven out of a rattan-like material.

Jodi, that's an incredible shot. I thought and thought to put my finger on what it reminded me of. The closest thing I came up with is, that it looks like a picture in a children's book. I hope you take that as a compliment, it was meant to be one.
