Nice!! How many plants do you have in there, Clair? I'm trying cukes in a container this year. The seeds I planted didn't come up, so I bought plants. The one little pot I bought had four stems in groups of two. I couldn't tell if they were two plants or four, since I'm not familiar with how cucumbers germinate. So they're all in my container at the moment, but I'm wondering if I should snip off two of them. What do you think?

I love the way yours spurned the tomato cage and took off to the side. I guess I should be prepared for that!

Planting the pole beans around the cuke was a mistake - maybe. The potential problem is the cuke in the middle getting starved for sun, but it really is just a potential problem and something to keep your eyes on. If the cuke grows rapidly it may hold it's own against the beans. You will have to ensure it can get to the edge and get sun. If you have ground space you could let it trail outside the container instead of having it climb the support with the beans.

Very nice Clairdo! What variety is it? What kind of soil are you using? Looks like you might be eating cucs sometime soon! I grew cucs in a half-whiskey barrel once, with a trellis up one side, and they did great. Have fun.
