Ron, I have a three-year-old Endless Summer. It has one (1) bloom on it. How can I improve this situation? Yours is beautiful! Hi Jane - Finding out the exact age of my house has been on my To Do list for some time. (It's a slow-moving list.) I was told it's a Civil War house, and a knowledgeable antique dealer estimated 1850 or earlier. I should be able to find out. Here's another view of it. Two sections were added on to the back after it was built.

Socks said "Lindsey, I think that rose is fake!!! Just kidding, of course. It's stunning, looks like velvet. Good old Mr. Lincoln is a great red rose." I can assure you the rose isn't fake. :-) The Mr. Lincoln rose tree is one of several rose trees that line the walkway from our driveway to the front porch. When I first saw the photo when I loaded it from my camera to my 'puter, I also thought it looked fake! I used a Canon PowerShot SD1100IS with the lens on the Macro setting. Here's the same rose, taken with the macro setting (the same photo above) and without the macro setting. I took the macro photo on Sept 29, 2008, at 6:48pm, and the other one at 6:49pm. I love taking closeup photos of flowers, but they nearly always end up out of focus! The macro setting helps a bit with the focus (for me, at least). It doesn't help that there is generally a breeze when I'm trying to take pictures of our roses, so they won't "sit still" to have their photo taken! :-)

Jodi, from that angle, I don't know what it is. Looks like it could be an iris or an orchid ... who knows, but i DO know it ain't no paperwhite! LOLOL

Here I am (on the right) with my greedy cousin Barbara, who is clearly gloating over her possession of the ball. Fortunately, she has gotten a lot nicer over the years. LOL

Sometimes I have hours between appointments up at the Cancer Care alliance. So I walked down to the Lake Union waterfront and wandered around. Here is a grate. I thought it was very pretty. Yesterday I had 4 hours between appointments, so I walked the hill, a pretty long steep hill, I went up and down 3 times in 25 minutes. I worked up a sweat! LOL

Susan, it looks like you're pulling back to give her a left jab.

Early Monday I and 4 friends leave for a backpacking trip to the mountains. This is along one of the trails we'll be taking.

Jodi - Ron is correct about it being an Iris, African iris it is, Dietes Iridioides. I envy that it grows well for you.
Sisan - yes, it's fungus: big mushroom, about 13-15" in diameter. Looked almost like critter of sorts to me.

Vetaal, it grows so well I consider it a weed, at least when the flowers dry up and fall off, then it just looks awful to me.

Can't wait to get home and tell my DH, who up until this moment is right about everything. LOLOLOL
