Brady, You don't need a license from the patent holder to sell them just to propagate them. The BB from FHN are tissue culture plants probably from Agri Starts which is in central Florida so he probably buys many trays of them from the producer that is licensed. The cost though of the newly patented varieties is much more than the older patented varieties and some are not patented at all and they are much cheaper yet. Now did FHN buy a non patented variety and market them as Sweetcrisps..OR was it an honest mistake on his part OR a mistake from the producer? Who knows. I sure would like to see a copy of the invoice from FHN stating he bought those XXX amount of trays of sweetcrisps from the tissue culture supplier. Buying non patented starts and marketing them as a new variety that is popular is a good way to make money....also a felony (not saying he did that of course). If people complained to the state of Florida they could subpoena his records.

careytearose, Your Secret Garden looks wonderful & I'm sure the kids are loving helping to plant. I've just got to ask a question though...couldn't tell from your post. Did you plant the two wisterias on the arch along with the roses? If so, you need to dig them up & get them out of there before they get established. Wisteria are HUGE, extraordinarily aggressive vines. They will DESTROY your wood fence in no time as well as work their way into the house. A trellis for wisteria needs to be made out of at minimum 4"x4" lumber set in concrete. Seriously, these vines are capable of pulling a porch roof down. Hopefully, I misread your post & the wisterias were planted somewhere besides your cute arch! Here is a link that might be useful: Pruning wisteria

I'm so glad they did well for you. They look very happy. Mine are blooming, too. Hope your yard made it through the cold snap. My outside thermometer said 37 and I think that's accurate because I didn't get any damage at all. I forgot to bring in some Vanda orchids and a pitcher plant but no problems.

OMG ALEX!! Looking great!! I can't believe the size of everything!! Your yard has really taken off. Since i have seen pictures of you yard last. The plumies look great. You need to check the forum to see the stripping of mine here in VB. I have had a great year with mine. My palms are all doing well and growing like crazy.. I dont climb on the ladders anymore especially the big 16 footers now. I leave that to the son. My daughter just had her little one.., so i have been busy with that. all is well tho. I miss you at the other forum.. Hope to see you soon! I still check in here every so often. Seems like my palm pictures are the same, so it seems like i dont have anything new to offer... sigh. They are all so big. They don't change anymore!! Thanks for the beautiful pics!! Take care, Laura
