I have recently added two ornamental grasses to our Garden and did so after visiting one of my favorite rural garden areas north of Manistee. The first addition to my garden was Miscanthus 'Purpurascens' also known as "Flame" grass. I looked up its characteristics, photograph, etc. at my favorite garden search tool, which is given far below. Hi ree-ree, Your steam idea is a really good one and is effective in eradication of this grass (and very environmentaly friendly!). You can also use glyphosate (Zero, Roundup or such). If it is in a position that you cannot spray, try using a small brush (artist's) and dab it directly onto the plant. Try your hardest not to let any go to seed! They are an annual grass, so if you can get on top of it, you can lick this nasty problem. Good luck, Dee.

I had 24” square pavers at my mid mod house with roughly 4” between them. The front was a large terrace that spanned the front of the house and connected to the driveway with grass between the Stones. The rear of the house we had pebbles between the stones. The grass required lots of edging, the pebbles were a total pita that I would be unlikely to do again- constant use of a leaf blower to keep all the leaves and bits out of the pebbles.

Absolutely. Or the rock will migrate into the lawn. And you'll have no good way to maintain the lawn edge. I would recommend an 8" wide flush mowing strip as a border (bricks or pavers make a good one) as opposed to something thin like "plastic edging," which would be much harder to maintain.
