It took me a minute to remember that you are in the Southern Hemisphere! Where else does one wait for summer. Seeing the itty bitty green leaves sprouting out on Pachy saundersii was great, and the flowers do announce spring. I loved seeing your photos and appreciate having the names. I don't recall every seeing a Kalanchoe rhombopilosa with this color. Thought it had odd colors...pink, green, blue, brown,grey? We went from 73 degrees to 99 degrees this week. Supposed to be 97 today and single digit humidity. The soil in the pots was dry. Got out the hose and misted everyone. I'll water tomorrow when the temp is supposed go down twenty degrees or so.

Hello everyone, Many, Many thanks for your encouraging words about both my Mom and the lilies. To those of you who like 'Angelus Curlicue' I bought her from Robin Calderon of Earlybird Daylilies this past spring. Robin sends amazing clumps! Her daylilies are also very inexpensive (I don't know how she can make any money!). I highly recommend her as an inexpensive source for daylilies and you will get very generous clumps. She is also very nice. kitcatclub...yes, I do have voles in my gardens and have lost many lily bulbs over the years. I haven't lost many lately since Fat Cat Nemo and Lily have been patrolling the gardens. I do lose a few each year it seems. Do you have those horrible red lily beetles in NY? They are destroying my lilies and I can't spray because I have so many bees and butterflies about. I really appreciate ALL of you here on the forum, for your friendship and all the sharing. "That was amazing!! It could only have been better in person!!" It was. :))) There was so much to see that I'd have been surprised if your web site shots included many of my own favorites. You did get LOTSA DOTS...and so did I LOL. I liked it so much that I ordered it from Faith. I ordered one other as well, DARK DRAGON, a double by Pat Bennett. I thought DD was very eye-catching, very unusual -- dark red with a gold throat. And the plant was loaded with scapes and buds. BTW, that clump of Jim Murphy's LOTSA DOTS was runner up for the Wente Award (more formally, The Dr. John Wente Award), for the best clump. Back to the garden...others I especially liked were BLACK PEARL, an oldie from 1963; HONEY CRUNCH CUPCAKE, one of Tim Herrington's cute doubles in his "cupcake" series; LOLA BRANHAM, which was huge and stunning; and a couple more of Emma Chandler in addition to the one in the photo--MEMPHIS INSOMNIAC and TALLAHATCHIE QUEEN. I'm pretty sure the Bange garden was also where I saw one stunning clump of red daylilies after another....Pat Cochenour's MYSTIC PIZZA (I highly recommend this one), Jamie Gossard's WAYNE FELGAR (ditto), and an amazing clump of HOLLY DANCER, proving once again that you don't have to have the newest daylily to enjoy a really spectacular display in the garden. In fact, I'm pretty sure both the Cochenour and the Warrell got lots of votes for the award for best red (Serge Rigaud Award).

This all sounds so familiar but I found some ways around most of my problem but not all of my problem. For work I wake up around 6 a.m. weather I fall asleep at 10:30 pm or 1 a.m. Very often it is much to closer to 1 a.m. I have a hyperactive bladder that rears its bladder head the minute I plan to go to sleep. I just listened to a Google talk all about how bad it is all the way around to not get it around 7 or 8 hours of sleep. How you look is affected as well. Getting 8 hours of sleep is truly is a beauty sleep that you miss out on. He says our hearts are involved that up all sorts of other illnesses like Alzheimer's and stuff like that are somehow connected to sleep. Oh woe is me I can't seem to do anything about that my hyperactive bladder and getting more sleep as I have to go to work. I don't have a problem actually falling asleep once I get to bed. In general I don't tend to mull over things. My mantra is I will plan and take care of that in the morning. Most of the time I will end up taking care of whatever it is that is plaguing me. That has helped the worrying part of me to trust the planning and execution part of me and it helps me to silence my mind and go to sleep. I tell myself if I'm inundated with bad or negative memories or even just lots of ruminating that these are memories of memories and they are in the past and they don't belong in the present with me right now. Unless I'm writing my memoirs. Which nobody would want to read :-). Of course I try to use my memories in constructive ways to remind myself not to do that again. You can tell I'm by myself too much!
