Wake up! It's Time for Another Tour!

Okay, you guys.....I have finally gotten around to doing another garden....and this one is a super garden!

So, come on along with me as we tour the Bange Garden...which was Garden 3 on our tour from the 2009 Summer Meeting of Region 3....

Thanks everyone for the compliments. My Office has become the "dumping grounds" for plumerias which have become too big for my backyard. I root pruned some this year but none at the office as they were transplanted 2years ago into those 25 gallon pots and got a good pruning then. I figure I have two more years before they need a refresh. I goofed on the Rainbow but it seems to be fixing itself. I did remove a couple of tips further up which were shriveling up and the new growth from the leaf nodes has actually progressed further than the tips I left alone (food for thought). Maybe I'll get a couple of inflos from it this year. If not then next year will be a great year for it. I hope that cutting roots for you. Its a great specimen. Here is a picture of it from last year: Those 5 Celadines and Pinks on the roof are up there from March until December going on three years. They have to be watered 3-4 times per week during the summer but have never had any sun related problems. by May or June they have huge full leaves and inflos all over. So I think the leaves do a very good job of keeping things cool and since they are more mature they have thicker bark (my assumption but makes sense to me). I have 4 more Pinks and Celadines and one huge Jeannie Moragne on a lower balcony which faces south east so they get sun from about 8am until 1pm. The Jeannie has maybe 10 forming inflos on it and about as many leaves. The pinks and celadines are my recommendation for anyone wanting to a simple but still very attractive plumeria which will bloom (given the recommended conditions) almost without fail after the second year of rooting.

If you just stop taking HRT altogether, I doubt it will hurt you physically, but it may make menopause symptoms more severe, or at least that's what I assume. In the old days, before HRT, women just put up with the symptoms, and seemed to survive it fine, but there are pros and cons either way. When my Mom's doc took her off HRT, she just cold-turkey'd it. Hotflashes galore, but I don't think it really made any difference in her weight. Mrs H

Most of the time I wake up before my 5:30 AM alarm goes off. Up, turn on the TV, and the computer, get dressed, read email and the paper online while eating breakfast. Then, peek in here at the KT, and on facebook, and get ready to go to work. If I ride my bike I leave the house 15 minutes earlier than if I drive. I work till 1:30 PM officially, but most times don't get out till after 2:00 I return to my bed after the 10:00 PM news and start the whole fun scenario again. :) Moni

My potted plant has been in a cool unheated north room in dormancy since past August. I read somewhere to start getting it out of dormancy the beginning of Spring. Well, its Spring now. I started to water it and put it into a south, warm room. ..but i do not see any signs of it reacting. How do i know if its dead even and just wasting my time babying it?

There was so much to see that I'd have been surprised if your web site shots included many of my own favorites. You did get LOTSA DOTS...and so did I LOL. I liked it so much that I ordered it from Faith. I ordered one other as well, DARK DRAGON, a double by Pat Bennett. I thought DD was very eye-catching, very unusual -- dark red with a gold throat. And the plant was loaded with scapes and buds.

BTW, that clump of Jim Murphy's LOTSA DOTS was runner up for the Wente Award (more formally, The Dr. John Wente Award), for the best clump.

Back to the garden...others I especially liked were BLACK PEARL, an oldie from 1963; HONEY CRUNCH CUPCAKE, one of Tim Herrington's cute doubles in his "cupcake" series; LOLA BRANHAM, which was huge and stunning; and a couple more of Emma Chandler in addition to the one in the photo--MEMPHIS INSOMNIAC and TALLAHATCHIE QUEEN. I'm pretty sure the Bange garden was also where I saw one stunning clump of red daylilies after another....Pat Cochenour's MYSTIC PIZZA (I highly recommend this one), Jamie Gossard's WAYNE FELGAR (ditto), and an amazing clump of HOLLY DANCER, proving once again that you don't have to have the newest daylily to enjoy a really spectacular display in the garden. In fact, I'm pretty sure both the Cochenour and the Warrell got lots of votes for the award for best red (Serge Rigaud Award).

I hadn't looked at this tour until this morning. This must be a huge garden with many, many beautiful daylilies and other plants.

Of course, I took some long, drooling looks at your seedling photos. It looks like you had a good crop of winners last year.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos. They're just what we need on a cold winter's day.

Thank you! I'm hoping to get to the last garden on this tour in the near future. I got a bit distracted and am currently working on pictures from the San Antonio Botanical Garden. It's so easy to get distracted...lol!

Anyway, I'll post when the next one is ready (you have time for a winter nap...haha).

Thanks again....and Happy New Year...may we all enjoy beautiful daylilies in 2010....(Georgia, anyone??!)
