My wife turned on the hose to fill the horse trough about a week ago, and when she came back to turn it off, this guy was right by the garden hose spigot, six feet from the house.

He's a cutie.

I HATE SNAKES!! They make you hurt yourself! Run into trees, break your ankles when you run into a hole. Get run over by the other person trying to run away with you.

Did the water stay on all day? LOL

I had one that looked very much like that one at my home in Norman, Ok. I opened the back door onto the porch and it was stretched out the entire length of the porch. I screamed and slammed the door shut on my foot, see what I mean!
The cat was coming up the steps to come in and not paying attention and walked right up to the snake the snake moved the cat went vertical to darn near the ceiling of the porch screeched and landed at the door and tried to crawl up me, again see! That poor cat was so traumatized every time it came onto the porch after that it was on tip toes and very alert.

He has a very sweet face, as though he could be in a kids book. Looks totally harmless. I'd likely think otherwise should have a very triangular head. I like how wavy he is. He must've been moving quickly to have all those bumps (on all of his toes at one time)!

I have one crocus blooming....it's not much....

LOL, Rob333! A snake with "a sweet face". I love it! Poor snakes rarely get nice comments like that from us humans. I happen to like snakes. Wish that sweet faced one would come stay in my yard. In the 14 years that I have lived here, the only snake I have seen is the one my next door neighbor 'proudly' showed me after he had killed it in my driveway.

garter snakes are just cute. Poor lil' things probably wish they looked "pumped up". Aint gonna pass for no stinkin' rattlesnake (and their eyes look like they're always angry, with that flap)! Poor garter snakes even get eaten by other snakes, mean ones.

The snake wasn't moving at all. I think he heard my wife coming and froze. Maybe he's so wavy from stopping so quickly :-)

This picture shows his size better (about 4 feet long), and how close he was to the spigot. She edged her way along the house behind the snake to turn the water off.

This guy that we saw right along the trail in Costa Rica a couple of years ago is somewhat less cute, with his triangular head and his bright "danger" coloration.

I can't stop laughing. SCCREEECHINNGG halt. So it all sloshes forward...

That is one snake from whom I'd run. Triangle head!!! Very bright makes me think of poison arrow frogs. Bet he's trouble. Still pretty, but only on the screen. Not in person.

One of our group spotted the yellow snake, and I squatted down, and moved closer and zoomed, and moved and adjusted the camera, and finally got the picture I was hoping for, then I noticed I was about 3 feet away, and quickly backed away.
