If you want active, Kinect is the way to go! My son and his wife have one and my granddaughter played it while we were down there for Christmas. Wow! It had her moving every direction you can think of! Of course, different games are going to have different activity levels, but this was with a game that came with the system. That bit that someone mentioned about Kinect reading the whole room.. it does read whatever the person that is playing (or people, as there are multi person games) while Wii reads the controller that the person is playing.

If you want something that is really good for fitness games, an xBox360 with Kinnect is head and shoulders above the Wii. The Kinnect uses a little camera to check your whole body's alignment and make sure you are actually following the instructions in the game. The Wii with the balance board can only sense balance, weight and hand movement, but not the position of your whole body so it has no way of knowing if you are actually doing what you are supposed to. The xBox is a little more expensive, but you can get some neat fitness stuff for it. There is Zumba, yoga, aerobics and dance games. Most of these exist for the Wii as well, however, I think they are better executed on the xBox because of it's ability to check your form as you go. In the end, though, it really comes down to how much money you want to spend. And keep in mind, a used system and games can save you a lot of money and be totally worth it if you buy from a reputable dealer.

So, are you finished? I just saw your original post and, looking at your pictures, I think you should put the components in the open cabinets on the left and right of the TV. I like the idea of racks, and I guess that's what you are now using. Regarding heat, I disagree with Fusion as to where to place the heat-producing components. People frequently put them at the bottom back in the days when those components were very heavy (read analog tube-based amps). Since heat rises, I would put them at the top! And, of course, if they have any controls you have to reach, make them reachable. What's behind your console? If it is a hallway or closet, could you break into the back to give easy access to cabling? If you are anything like me, I am always changing things.

Forgive me if I've told this story before because I know exactly what you went through until I finally figured out our remotes after 4 years! Last year I was watching the grands at their house. They have an x-box which we bought for them to play games with. It was just me and DGD (4 yrs. old at the time) sitting in the LR. I wanted to watch tv, but a movie was playing that the kids weren't watching. I knew all about how to change from DVD to DTV/Cable, but nothing I tried worked. I sat there and was telling DGD that I couldn't get the tv on. In fact, I told her several times while she just sat there watching me in silence. After 5 minutes of this (I was getting ready to call her parents and get instrucitons!), she finally said in a very quiet voice, "xbox turn on tv." I said, "Huh?" She said it again but louder. TV came on. I'm too old to learn new gadgets!
