The dance games (Just Dance!, Dance Revolution, Get Up and Dance, etc.) are great. We have a Wii, but I think they're all available for XBox, too. you don't have to have rhythm, you just follow along.

When I fell last spring and couldn't walk for awhile, I used Just Dance! and just did the arm movements. Worked great.

Janie, DD has looked into the Kinex. Won't have one. They got the WII from us last Christmas, got it Black Friday for a good price. She says the Kinex reads the WHOLE room! Which makes it easier to hack and monitor the room from elsewhere. I'm not explaining it well. But she didn't think it was safe from a security standpoint, not just internet safe. I don't know if it's a system that you can use connected with other players around the world or what, but she wants nothing to do with it.

We got our not-very-active grandson an XBox with Kinnect for Christmas and we think it is great. He is getting at least an hour a day of active movement now. He has some games that don't require musical ability, like Wipeout (modelled after the t.v. show) and Fruit Ninja in which a ninja chartacter goes after fruit. I have never heard of anybody having security problems with the Xbox/Kinnect.

If you want active, Kinect is the way to go! My son and his wife have one and my granddaughter played it while we were down there for Christmas. Wow! It had her moving every direction you can think of! Of course, different games are going to have different activity levels, but this was with a game that came with the system. That bit that someone mentioned about Kinect reading the whole room.. it does read whatever the person that is playing (or people, as there are multi person games) while Wii reads the controller that the person is playing.
