Wow that is cool. I can't figure out how it works. Is there a smaller side window that slides? The elevated portion of the window does not look large enough to cover the opening vertically.

elbartee, could the upper portion possibly be a retracting screen? Otherwise, wouldn't it close over the side window part? It is really neat the way the whole window opens totally. I thought I had done a very thorough job of exploring window possibilities---never saw this!

It looks like a glass garage door to me.

Is it a fixed glass panel with an operable transom?

What I think we're seeing in the pic is a fixed pane that runs from the corner (where the walls meet) to someplace beyond the left edge of the pic. Then 2 panes, one of which is seen slanted from the ceiling to the window opening (in this open position), and another that is hidden behind that so the top of it is tucked up to the ceiling and the bottom is hinged to the top of the pane we see.

When its closed seems like it would look like a fixed pane at the top and 2 panes below.

The small wall from the left edge of the window to the corner seems to serve no purpose and could be just window.

Unfortunately I came across the pic on a decorating site, or maybe a countertop site--don't recall as I've had this in my idea file for a while.

Guess it could be custom made, but was hope somebody might know more about a source that manufactures them. Like maybe this window is used in some commercial application or something.?.?

Interesting how we are each seeing something slightly different. To me, it looks like a standard top-latch transom (I don't see enough layers for it to be two raised sliders or garage style). The wide window below has a single simple top-track slider to the left and probably a double or two singles to the right which are out of sight of the camera. The flat board just below the transom appears to contain double tracks. The whole scene looks very 1960's Swedish or Danish to me.

I only know that I don't want to have to open and close that heavy tilt-top window! Do you use a pole or climb up on the countertop? LOL

I think it's an aluminum slider with a hopper transom and a curtain track where they join.

Chisue ~ yes, the one I've seen used a very heavy wooden pole with metal double hook-thingy on the end. You could actually push the latch to lock it. You maybe, but not me ~ it was top-heavy and weighed about 20 pounds, not anything to let me use around glass.
