I'm not decorating :o( No reason to!

We usually get either a noble fir or a fraser fir. I wouldn't want to try a white pine for a decorated tree, the branches are so soft and willowly you'd have a hard time keeping the ornaments from sagging onto the floor.

Ohhh, Noble Fir is my favorite!
I have a faux tree presently, but hope to have a Noble Fir some year soon. I was out of town (visiting my mother) at Christmas for many years, and hated to come home to a dried-out tree...it was too scary to turn on the lights until Epiphany, so I opted for faux. When my faux pre-lit tree crashes, I will probably get a real tree again.

I am sad that I will never go to my mother's house for holidays again. [She died in May; her house sold in July] I have wonderful memories, and many of her pretty things.
I think I can weave some old traditions into some new ones, and come up with a cozy Christmas wrap for all...including a beautiful Noble Fir!

Kat, your flocked tree sounds sweet! You should continue your dad's love of a flocked tree. He like that! It does smell wonderful that's for sure. love it!!

I did go to your link at Balsam Hill. Had looked there quickly before and knew they had some beautiful trees. I was looking at the Vermont white spruce trees with the real looking needles. I plan on having the tree for a long time and thought the money would be worth a nice tree. EXCEPT by the time I got around to order, they were all gone at the color, height and spread I liked. Well, now I still have my cash and my old tree is up. It wasn't so bad to put up because dh was kind enough to mark all of the branches well last year. We have the lights on and the decorations will go up Thursday. I'm glad it's up and only a little bummed my prelit tree ideas will be on hold once again. I'm thankful that my family is healthy and able bodied to be able to put up the ol lug tree with me, so I won't complain. It does look like a Noble fir,,kinda. Ah-oh I'm getting some crazy idea to put a Christmas tree smelly thingy in the tree for a smell.

Next year though....

Mcmann... we were getting the grand fir for a while. Probably have had the frasier too. Yeah, I can't imagine a pine tree...

For years we always bought a leyland cypress...the year my second son was born the local news even filmed us cutting it down...(our 15 seconds of fame..LOL)...It made my hubster and I sick to throw out that beautiful tree so we bought a artificial one and have been using it since...it's a bear to put together fluffing out all the branches but it has really stood the test of time so I don't see any reason to get another just yet...I do miss the smell of a real tree though!

Fraser fir here... and it smells soooooo goooood!

We used to cut a red cedar every year from my sister's farm in the Loess hills of Iowa. They didn't have the greatest color (it really is kind of a reddish tinge to the green) but the needles were soft and the smell was absolutely out of this world! That smell spoiled me for all of the commercially grown trees. We also had such fun tromping around in the hills looking for our tree then going in for hot cocoa and cookies afterward. What good good memories.

This year, we have an artificial tree, a new blue spruce, and it is very pretty. I burn an evergreen scented candle in the room to try to recreate the smell.

I have to have an artificial tree as I am allergic to the real trees in the house....cough cough cough. Big Sigh!
