Better Late Than Never (Christmas Tree Photo)

Just now getting around to posting a photo of our tree. I bought it at the flea market for $5.00! LOL It was originally white but is old enough that it has turned a dead cedar colored beige! LOL

Told the clerk that it just needed "a little love" to bring it back. She laughed and told me that she didn't think there was enough love in the WORLD to help that tree!

I used gold balls, gold garland, white lights and old sepia toned photos of our family to decorate it. It's really pretty "in person".

Couldn't ever get a great photo between the livingroom lights, the tree lights and the camera flash, but here's a closeup of a couple of the "ornaments".

I'm such a grinch, I HAVE to do something different or I won't even put a tree up!

I think it looks quite lovely!!!

I have some of those "memory" frames, but have yet to put photos in them.

My tree is supposed to get put up this weekend (been waiting due to the 'spasmodic' kitten).

Looks beautiful to me! Certainly worth more than what you paid IMHO...... You did a wonderful job of decorating it and I love the old photos.

Please understand that even IF your trees needed fertilization, spikes are the absolute worst method of delivering it. I would first throw them away and second get a soil sample to your cooperative extension office for your free annual soil test. Find them in your white pages listed by county. The information from that will tell you what, if anything, needs to be added to your soil. Your county agents will assist you in understanding the test results and be familiar with amendments available locally and how much to apply when. Absent that information you are literally flying blind, so doing nothing would be FAR better than doing a wrong thing. And fertilizer spikes are definitely a wrong thing.

deedles - yes, losing the over-peninsula cabs was a big improvement (although I kind of liked the cards and artwork we had stuck up there). The cabs to the left of the stove are 15". Can you tell that the ones to the right are only 14"? We needed to lose an inch on that run and that's where it came from. Yes, tons of room in the peninsula cabs - love it! I like it alot. I really like the idea of the old photos I am going to copy you is that OK :) I will make some of my mom and her family for my kids to hang on their trees and some for me too:)

Yaya ~ that's real pretty. I love the photo ornaments.
There is a tree that is a display at Kohl's that is a beige color. It has gold trim and ornaments on it. Everytime I go there I wish I could buy it. I'm making a special trip there Christmas Eve to see if it is going to be for sale after Christmas. Since it is just a store display and not a tree for sale I don't know if I will be able to get it or not.

Anna and I are going to a flea market tomorrow. I'll be on the lookout for time worn white trees.

I love the idea of the old photos! Do you have a picture of the whole tree? I'd love to see it all. Very clever idea....my mom and dad would have loved this! My mom because it was a bargain, she loved yard sales and thrift stores and my dad because of the old pictures! Wish I;d thought of this when they were alive....really nice!

Thank you guys for all the compliments! DIL told me yesterday that she saw the twin to my tree in a convenience store the other day, but, get this, they had turned it into a SNOWMAN! LOL She said they "balled up" about the top 1/3 for the head, the middle branches for its middle, etc. She said it was complete with a carrot nose, top hat, etc.

I told her that my tree was NOT gonna be mutilated into any old snowman! LOL

I found some of the frames for 97 cents a piece at WalMart and then some little wooden ones at a surplus type store for 29 cents a piece. I bought all that they had both places and would still like to have some more! Gonna check at another WalMart tomorrow.

I love it..and the idea of the frames with family photos! Too late for me to use that idea this year...but I'm filing it away for NEXT year! lol Did you hang the frames (and how if you did) or just place them among the branches?

Love it Ya-Ya! I have a white tree too....well two actually...I bought another at a yard
sale this summer...for 3 bucks! LOL! I figured on making one really FuLL tree out of the two of them....BUT being the lazy bum I am,they are both still in my spareroom in their boxes....
I do my white tree in R W & B ...when I'm not to lazy to put it up that is! LOL!
