shoot missed it, but wanted to see the kids...now i'm struggling with the mother-daughter beauty pagent...

It was a good show last night with a very interesting challenge. The models were all women who have recently lost major amounts of weight. The walked out onto the runway wearing their fav outfit from when they were fat. The challenge for the designers was to remake the outfits into updated, stylish outfits...that fit.

Some of the designers did an excellent job. I liked Kevins the best but he came in second, Christian won. Steven was the one who was OUT.

I really liked Steven but he did an awful job last night. His model came out wearing a HUGE wedding dress that just hung on her. She had to pick it up off of the floor so she could walk. She looked like a little girl wearing her Moms wedding dress. He said it had about 7 yards of white, polyester fabric with beads and pearls. He had no idea what to do with it...so he did very little. The designers could also purchase $10. worth of fabtric at Moode. Steven bought black fabric, made a dress out of it and used the wedding dress ONLY to make the collar and cuffs of the dress...that was it...collar and cuffs. Not only did he not use much of the wedding dress, he also did not finish in time and other designers had to help him finish. He glued some of it together. It was awful! and UGLY!

Keven's model came out wearing a HUGE, yellow blazer. He remade it into a strapless tunic with leggins. It looked great and the women LOVED it. Christian's model came out in a big denim jacket and jeans. He remade it by cutting it down to fit the women. He made the jacket shorter and added some pleating down the front. It looked great.

The big drama of the show was Jack. He developed an infection in his face. It was starting to swell and I swear he called it a MRSA infection. Isn't that one of those big infections that the medical community has been talking about? Anyway, he was advised by his DR that they needed to treat the infection more aggressivly, so he needed to leave the show. As a result...Chris was brought back to fill the spot left open by Jack. You remember Chris..the one who was OUT lsat week. He didn't do very well...made an ugly outfit that looked stupid, but not as UGLY as Stevens.

It was a good one. I really like just about all of these designers. I think the judges are catching on to Elisa...she is an artist but she is way out of the league as a designer and seamstress. She's still interesting.

I thought it was a good show too...Jack was pitiful wasn't he...he wanted to stay so bad, I felt sorry for him...I think he did say MRSA...although he was hard to understand...He said the last time he had it, he thought it was just a pimple gone bad so what he is describing certainly is MRSa...good show

He did say MRSA, which is a staph infection right? I hope he wasnt contagious because he was hugging everyone!

You could tell his face was pretty swollen. I felt bad for him.

My oldest said Jack looked like a Who..which he did...poor guy..I bet it was painful too..

Um Jillian used about as much in her dress as Steven did, she just made a lovely dress!

I agree with everything you said, sooey! I LOVED Kevin's design, and so did his model . . . I was hoping he would win, but I really liked Christian's blouse too. Steven's oddness always driven me crazy, but his design was horrid! I was so hoping he'd tear the sleeves off that wedding dress and make it into a cute, little beaded cocktail dress . . . sigh, it had such potential.

I keep waiting for Elisa to fly around on a broomstick; she has such a 'bewitched/manic' look in her eyes . . . definitely an artist, but I don't care for her designs. I was glad to see Chris come back, but his design was so butt-ugly, I thought he might actually go again!

I get so tired of the conflicting criticism. The liked Christian's because it was 'him' but they didn't like Elisa's because it was her. Jillian was lauded for a dress that used none of the fabric from her model at all (she just bought similar fabric) when in the past they would usually call a designer out for not following the rules of the challenge. I didn't even like that dress on that woman.

I do think Steven was the right choice to do home this week. I think his sketching is better than his construction, at least under these time constraints. Nothing he has made has been very good, although he was entertaining.

I didn't think Chris's was that bad. He is cursed by being a costume designer. They will see costume in absolutely everything he does.

I thought Kevin was robbed, and Rami should have been in the top three, not Jillian. I actually liked Ricky's this week. I can't even remember Victorya's, Sweet Pea's, or Kit's designs. Oh yes, I hated Victorya's. I didn't think it was that creative or that flattering. And Kit's is coming back to me now. It was pretty meh. Not that flattering but it wasn't the worst of the bunch. Still can't remember Sweet Pea's.

Did I hear that Jack was suing? It didn't seem like they forced him to leave. If they did it was for his own good. You don't screw around with MRSA.

Gosh Paula, you are right on the money with your comment about the conflicting criticism of the judges. I had not looked at it that way, but you are right. They did not like Elisa's because it was so 'her' but they loved Christian's because it WAS so 'him'. I can't help but notice the expressions on Nina's face while she is talking with the individual designers on the Runway. Like tisk-tisk or, raising one eyebrow, even giving little exasperated sighs. She can be condescending. I also questioned why they would let Jillian get away with not using the original outfit, just the new fabric from Moode. I would call that a double standard. But, then again...they let Jack use the shorts he was wearing to make a pattern for the Tiki Barber challenge.
