I sit in my recliner with my floor lamp giving me a lot of light...and my feet on my stool...(I don't like to use the foot rest on the recliner because it makes you lean back when you open it...I don't like to lean back.

About the only place I read books any more is in the truck when I am waiting on Jody somewhere. I can't read in bed any more because I can't stay awake. Same reason I can't watch tv any more at night. I lay down and in about 15 minutes or less...even when I try to stay awake, I fall asleep.

I fall asleep trying to read in bed at night, too, unless it's a really good book. I pretty much read anywhere else I can, though. A few minutes while waiting in the car, or at the kitchen table while dinner cooks. When the kids were preschool age, I would take them to McDonalds at slow times of the day, get them a drink and let them play in the tunnels for an hour... while I sat and read. If I need a break, I'll go to the coffee shop and get a quiet seat for a latte and read. I take a book when I sub and read during the teacher's planning time. (The other day it was for a reading teacher and she had some comfy chairs with good lights. It was nice.) And I will read in the bathtub after the kids are in bed. We have a garden tub, I just fill it with bubbles and settle in. I am very relaxed and sleep well after that. I just read everywhere.

I live with back pain and the place that I get relief is in my bed. Not sitting, or reclining but flat and on my side, neck roll for a pillow. I read sometimes to just get my mind wrapped around something other how I hurt, and oftentimes do fall asleep and wake up feeling my "usual" hurting that I just deal with. I have "done it ALL" except under the knife and so far can live with my mostly drug free way. Nanny

I like to curl up in my recliner, usually with my afghan and a cup of tea too!

I sit on the sofa with my legs stretched out the length of the sofa and my back against the sofa pillows and sofa arm. I put a throw over my legs and I soon have a kitty on my lap.

Most of the reading I do is in the spectator area where Anna takes TaeKwonDo. Some of her classes are 45 minutes and some are an hour. We are there 3 to 4 times a week, so I get a lot of reading done.

I used to read in bed, but like some of you I have too much pain to get comfortably propped up in bed. I can read fairly well in a recliner as far as pain is concerned, but I rarely take the time to read at home.

I do most of my reading in bed, but I do like to read while I'm having lunch, too. My big problem is that sometimes I'll only plan to read a chapter, and suddenly two hours have passed!

I read in my glide rocker with my feet up on the matching glide foot stool. What makes this my best place to read is one of those board like things that is made to rest across the arms of a chair to give you a sort of desk for writing, etc while in an easy chair. Resting my book on the 'desk' makes it soooo much easier on my weak and arthritic hands, arms and shoulders.

For some reason I can only read in bed.Even though I often wake up with the book covering my face,it's the only place I can really feel comfortable reading.
I HAVE to read to get to sleep,and depending on how late it is and how tired I am I can usually get through a few chapters before the eyes start to cross.

I read while sitting in my recliner when in the house. I also read a lot while in the doctor's office. I prefer to read outside on the porch swing, but as you said it's too cold right now, although it will be warm enough tomorrow.:o)

I have an over-sized leather chair that is perfect for reading, curling up, falling asleep! I either read there or in bed.

I read on the love seat, stretch out with pillows behind me.

I read in bed, on my side. I used to read several books a week but now fall asleep after a few pages. People who don't read don't know what they're missing.

I also read in bed, for about an hour before I turn off the light for the night. Of course if I'm really tired it may be only half hour or so. I also love to read sitting on my couch with my blanket over me and my feet propped on a pillow.

I sit on the sofa in "my spot" next to an end table and lamp. I can have a cup of tea, my dog beside me and read the day away. When I am reading a really good book, I find it hard to put down so don't get a lot done. DH always reads in bed before going to sleep. I can't read at night in bed. I find myself too tired and I keep reading the same part over and over.

I can't read in bed. I always fall asleep. I can read anywhere I'm sitting up comfortably, the kitchen, in my car, in a doctor's waiting room. I once read a book in the library, standing up.

On the couch in the den when there's a fire in the fireplace. If not, I have a love seat in the bedroom in front of some windows that gets mighty comfy!!! Also in bed w/ a sleeping husband and Dave Letterman on the TV!

I think I know that it's bad for your back to sit with your legs extended out in front of you -- in a "L" shape, like in bed. Maybe that's just another of the many things I think I know!

I read in our LR, sitting in a chair or on the sofa. Best on a clear-sky day like this one, with the sun streaming in through the French doors. (LR is on south side of house.)

If I'm up at night (sinus/asthma/old lady insomnia) I read in the library, which has floor heat and is a constant 68F. I can usually get to 5:30 before our Westie gets out of his bed in our BR and comes looking for me...and breakfast.

In my clawfoot bathtub that is filled with bubbles! I have one of those trays that holds the book, a glass of whatever(!), a candle, bathgel, etc. Love it!!!

I find time early in the morning before I leave for the office or at night before bed if I'm really stressed.
