My Tikki crossed the Rainbow Bridge today

Tikki was diagnosed with hyperthyroid disorder last summer. Poor thing got so thin so quickly. She didn't respond well to the pills.

I got Tikki at a shelter 7 years ago and was her 3rd owner. I don't know exactly how old she was. She was a beautiful lilac point Siamese. I know that Tikki was very happy during the 7 years she owned me.

DS is visiting me and I decided that now was a good time to let Tikki go. It was even harder on DS than it was on me.

I am so sorry Linda! I know that you have been aware that this was coming...but it is still a shock. Did you bring her up her to the clinic? They are sooooo wonderful in how they deal with putting an animal to sleep.

Thank you all for the support. It's funny, when we had to put Mojo down last August I took a couple of pictures of him early that day. Afterwards I looked at those pictures and I could see how tired he looked. His eyes looked shallow and his fur had lost it's luster. I didn't notice that looking at him on a daily basis. I didn't take any pictures of Chessa yesterday because of that. But looking at the picture I posted above as well as others from the past, I can clearly see a different dog. She almost looks fat in those photos, but she was never overweight. It's just that I got used to seeing her as she was at the end....nothing but skin and bones. She was so skinny. Her coat was no longer shiny and lustrous, and her eyes were dull. It makes me know that we did the right thing. She was ready. Doesn't make it any easier, doesn't make us miss her any less, doesn't keep my eyes from welling up. But I realize that am sad for me. She is definitely in a better place. Huge hugs for you and your DH Moonie! I lost my heart dog October 16th. The day we planned Madison's 7th birthday party. All the GB's were here and family. I cried and cried and had to pull it together for the little ones so they could have their party. I don't know if I could have done it enough to go to a job interview. My hat is off to you. I know it hurts so terribly bad! I still think of our little girlie girl Miss. I tear up often. It isn't all day long anymore. I will never,ever forget her as I know you won't with Quincy. I remember you posting pictures of him way back when you first got him. He looked like such a total love. It doesn't take long for them to wrap those little paws around your heart. My DSis had a Doberman that had terrible seizures also, he was young when she had to put him down also I am thinking around Quincy's age. Kittiemom, I'm so sorry to hear about Stormy. And you Lydia as well. I had no idea about your kitty. It kills us every time we have to do this (and I've done it a few). We have to remember that it's the best thing for our pet, even if not the best for us. They had a great life, and believe it or not, there's room in your heart for another fur-pet when the time is right. I can't imagine not having a cat, and I can't see myself without one.

Yes, Sandy. Brenda was working today and I wanted her to do it. I was impressed with their compassion. Afterwards, Brenda hugged each of us.

That is so sad, even though it was expected. It's really hard to lose them. It helps when one knows they have given the pet a good life.

Aww Linda.....I am so sorry. It always hurts when we lose a fur baby.....but today you made the last, best choice for your little Tikki. Its never easy...and bless your DS for being there for you and for Tikki......Blessings and Peace..

This always makes me so sad, I'm so very sorry for your loss. We've had two pups cross in the last five years, and both at Christmas time. They have their own special ornaments now. Knowing it is the right thing to do and knowing they are now well and happy doesn't take the pain and sadness away.

My sympathy in your loss. We have three Westies waiting at the Bridge. While it is always terribly sad to lose our pets, the death I most regret is our last Westie -- because we kept him going longer than we should have done, out of our own selfishness. You did the right thing in giving Tikki a loving home and in putting her to rest at the right time.
