Help - Cat urine smell on fireplace brick
Comments (9)I think it's actually Nature's Miracle. It's also extremely expensive, as it was the first on the block. There are a number of other types that I find work just was well, but don't cost nearly as much. Simple Solution is one. Petsmart also sells a brand of their own. It leaves a faint vanilla smell. Lay a couple of old rags over the hearth, soak with the solution of your choice, and then cover with plastic wrap or tin foil. This will help keep it from drying out before it soaks into the bricks deeply enough to make a difference. You'll likely have to do this numerous times....See MoreFormula to get Cat urine out permanently
Comments (160)Baking soda and vinegar cancel each other out, but not hydrogen peroxide (although the reaction might weaken it). One site suggested a vinegar and water mix, followed with baking soda, but that didn't work for me. I've read Nature's Miracle changed their formula and doesnt work as well as before. There are other "enzyme" products - I tried a pet store version which didn't work. A new one called Anti-icky poo is really expensive. Guess I'll try the hydrogen/baking soda version, and will buy a black light to see if the cat urine stain is still there (and elsewhere). And I PROMISE to post back my results.....just like the person below did, lol. Vanessa Buddle So yes this original post was along long time ago,but I’m at my wits end with my baby boy peeing all over my brand new house and brand new couch. I’ve been using straight vinegar on the spots straight after he’s pee’d there,it’s not helping at all and after I close the house up,even just for 5 mins,it absolutely reaks from him marking his territory. I can’t get angry with him as it’s a natural act that he is doing, but it’s at the point where I can’t eat in my house or have people over. This smell has to be gone before summer otherwise it’s going to be unbearable. I know that getting him desexed may not solve this issue and that’s my worry as he’s a rag doll and I breed them.(in saying that,he only started marking the place after that last litter.the litter was mainly boys and I think he felt intimidated)anyway, please wish me luck and I will definitely let you know the results after trying this recipe.Tia September 5, 2018...See MoreCat urinating everywhere
Comments (11)My two year old baby has started peeing occasionally in my bathroom sink and on the rug in the kitchen (it has a rubber backing). I took her to the vet and she had a slightly elevated ph in her urine. I was told to try CD. Which I switched over to, but that hasn't helped. She refuses the canned CD. Previously she was eating Evo, which I thought was one of the best cat foods. I've had her since 3 weeks and bottle fed her. We also have her littermate and two older cats. None have ever had a problem before, and we have three very large boxes, which I religiously scoop out daily. I really feel that it isn't physical. At first I thought she was peeing in the sink because she watches me on the toilet and put two and two together. She also twice peed on a pillow on our screened porch. It was a rubber backed non-scooting pillow. I think the rubber smell attracts her for some reason. I've been researching and am going to try 'Cat Attract' brand litter. There are a lot of positive reviews for it where it has cured litter box problems. I'll let you know how it works. Another thing, she does this right in front of me. When I tell her 'no', she speeds off, but seems to have no remorse. She will use the litter box when I'm cleaning it, too. No problems with me watching her. No problems with the other cats being in the box, either. She is very close to me and it sitting on the back of my chair right now. She sleeps on me and is the most affectionate of the four cats. All are spayed. This is a once in awhile issue....See MoreCat urine smell in bathroom - But no cat...
Comments (12)When cat urine has permeated into anything remotely porous, it’s going to be an expensive problem where everything has to be ripped out and replaced - it might be cheaper to burn the house down and start fresh with a new build (I’m only half joking here when I say burn the house down to save money! But dog pee smell is easier to remedy than cat pee, so if I had to choose one to deal with I’d pick the dog pee 100%). Is there an exhaust fan in that bathroom? Like @kelli w, I’m wondering if it’s some kind of mold or bacterial growth. If your bathroom has no ventilation, things like mold/bacteria are definitely going to proliferate on any surface with the right combination of conditions that allow them to do so. Since it’s less costly to go without cleaning the shower and see if the smell worsens; if it does you have a starting point from which to plan a course of actions, which should definitely include putting in an exhaust fan if there’s not one in there already, but it’s only able to help things if it’s actually used during showers and run for a good while afterwards so it can do it’s job completely....See Moredorothy_oahu
