I've always wanted an African Grey. But, I've heard they can be really mean. Sounds like they have an attitude problem. Birds sing for some people...LOL!

Hopefully the men had the courtesy to clean up their own puke from your shoe...that cracked me right up!

Ah, he was in love!!
We have had Macaws, Cockatoos and several other parrots and that's what they do when they pick you as their favorite.
Better than the torment you would get if he didn't like you.

So, Dances, if we ever meet at a kt get together you'll be disappointed if I don't hack up something on your shoes?

I tried to make friends with an African Grey for 13 years before I gave up. He has only one human that he tolerates and it is not me. He has a name he calls me that rhymes with witch. I don't know who taught him that. He is a mean bird and will probably out live me. He has never puked on me but has done the other.

Oh...I was wrong...what he did came out the "other" end...

Aw, Dances, you should be flattered! Better than sitting on your shoulder and pecking yer eye out! (One of my major phobias when near a big bird.)

We had a friend with a blue macaw. That bird would bite keys in half! Good keys! Yikes. I can't have a pet like that, too scary.

He luuuuuvvvvs you, and we can never have too much love in our lives! LOL

We had a rescue African Grey, Jake, for years. They require the same amount of care, concern, and attention as a three-year-old human...for their entire lives! They're worth it!

Due to a PCS move, we did have to re-home him. We found another bird-mom that had a single AG herself. Now Jake, whom we learned was a girl, had "his" best friend "Winston" to love and adore. Each had their own huge cage, with ladders leading to the play gym between them. She fed all fresh fruits and vegs; and finally convinced me she was "worthy" of purchasing/adopting Jake. I still miss him, the loud, entertaining, noisy, beautiful, messy, adoring, demanding, loveable guy she was! Jake taught me to eat pomegranates, kumquats, and mangos in my quest to give him a wild and varied diet.

That's all right, Patti ... lots of folks aren't too sure which end is up!

I did have a peacock that spread his fan and made this strange vibration while prancing toward me. Believe me, I got outta there! Here all this time, I thought he was courting me but no upchuck.....maybe it's different for peacocks! lolol

I am too ascairt to have a big bird, for just those reasons flamey said ROFL!

We were just there for a visit, dropping off some toys and dried fruit mix packets. I like to visit, but even then I don't stay long because they scare me. They have one macaw there that acts like he is your friend, and will even let you pet and scratch him then WHAMMO. He tries to bite. DH doesn't come anymore because this macaw chases him out every single time. Ever had a hissing blue chicken flying at you? It's not as fun as you might think ;).

This african grey is just a baby, which is why he is friendly right now I think.

Ahhhh, I love birds. We used to bird sit every holiday when DD was in middle school and into HS, until we got out dog.This Teacher we did this for used to bring the birds to class. The kids loved it. He had two birds, one a green small parrot and one african grey that was really abused as a young bird, so much that he pulled his feathers out around his neck and they never did grow back. These birds were so great, they flew around the room. I kept them trimmed so they could only fly down, not up and away. The owner, used to ride his bike around town with these birds on the handlebars. VERY cool birds. Anyway, people didn't understand how I could take care of these birds, cause they pooped everywhere, if they were on your shoulder, they pooped, usually if they weren't on YOU they were on the cage and that was fine. I really didn't mind it, you just wore old clothes when they were here. No big deal. But then, my job around here now is the puke master.... when the cats ack, I am the one to clean it up, Hubs does the litter boxes, I do the puke. Doesn't bother me any.

I would love a bird of our own, but with one dog that thinks they are all play toys and WON'T leave them alone and 3 kitties around here, I have enough to keep an eye on.

We have flocks of wild parrots in So. CA. They are green and of a good size. They sure are noisy. They fly and screech, land on wires and all talk and scream at once. I've never heard of anyone catching one or caring for a nestling.
