Do You Eat Your Muffins With Butter Or......

Do you eat your muffins or quick breads with butter or something? The only thing I eat butter on are the homemade plain muffins. The rest I want plain. I know Bob Evan's always serves butter with their, banana, cherry, and pumpkin breads. To me, that just doesn't seem right :) How about you?

I make my breakfast muffins with 2 tsp of olive oil and they are quite moist, so I figure that's enough fat/oil for a muffin. I top it with sugar-free jam or fat-free cream cheese.

If it was a dry bread or muffin, then I'd put a little butter on it though.

Only butter in my house. Our bodies are designed to process animal fats, but NOT hydrogenated fat. I always stock up on butter when it's on sale. The extra goes into ziplock freezer bags, then into the freezer and keeps beautifully for a long, long time. The pound I'm using goes into the fridge. Experts recommend that butter be stored in the COLDEST part of the fridge--never in the butter keeper on the door, or at room temp. That advice makes a lot of sense to me. Fats do spoil more rapidly, the warmer the storage temp. I always keep my oil (safflower) in the freezer to give it the longest shelf life possible. Luckily, there's no need to endanger your food $$$ these days. When you want butter to spread easily on your toast, simply take it from the fridge, and nuke 10-15 seconds, depending upon the wattage of your microwave. I always do that while my toast is toasting--and hence have the best of both--safe butter storage and nice, soft spreadable butter.

Here is the peanut butter spread I was thinking about: Amish Peanut Butter Spread 2c brown sugar 1c water 2T light Karo Syrup 2c smooth peanut butter 2c marshmallow fluff 1/4 tsp maple or vanilla ext. Heat brown sugar, water, and corn syrup stirring well til boiling. Remove from heat and cool Eombine peanut butter and fluff in mixing bowl and add cooled sugar mixture on top. Add flavoring and beat with mixer til smooth.

I eat a breakfast-type breakfast every morning, and have all my life. Other than cold leftover pizza in college, that is. For the majority of my life though, there is no way I could or would eat leftovers from the night before, etc. My DH is a family practice doc and he’s very into healthful eating. I agree, having been in the healthcare field myself for many years, but I absolutely refuse to eat food that’s “good for me” but tastes boring or ugh! Thank goodness we both love to cook and experiment with recipes, as I can honestly say that we eat delicious breakfasts every day of the week.

Here's what I have. Google whirly popper many options appear. This one has plastic gears that I wonder about. My first was skinnier and taller but all metal. The bottom is well 'seasoned' as they say but the corn/sugar does not burn if not over loaded. It's a thinner pot so those used to a good sturdy kettle will understand why the sugar scorches and leaves the bottom black over time. I start with a bit of oil, and a kernel or two. When they are popped I add 1/2cup kernels with just under half cup of table sugar. Give it a shake to distribute and when it begins popping I start stirring until no more popping. Poor into a bowl and shake salt over to taste. Stir but be careful that sugar is HOT!!!! The better the kernels the less it takes to fill the pan. The recipe I learned was equal corn and sugar but lately I don't' really need that much sugar and do it more like half as much sugar to kernels. Plus I've started adding a Tbl of butter when I throw the kernels in. If you stir too soon the stirring action actually piles the corn and sugar up against the outside of the kettle so it doesn't evenly get hot and liquify the sugar. Let it start popping fairly fast before you start turning the crank. That's how I avoid a burnt mess.

I like butter on a muffin. On quick breads I like cream cheese or peanut butter too.

I don't eat muffins often but no I never put butter on them. In fact I don't eat much butter. I don't put it on tea biscuits and rarely on rolls.

I like butter on all types of muffins and breads.

Maybe someone will give me a Butter Boy like Glenda helped her GS buy for a gift.

I no longer eat muffins but when I did you can bet there was plenty of butter on them!!!! LOL!!!

I love butter (real) on muffins, and alot of other breads along with a bit of jelly, jalapeno, mint or what ever sounds good.

Usually muffins don't need it, guess I think of them more like a cupcake and never put butter on it. Quick breads I'll occasionally butter, depending on how much I want butter. Sometimes I just want the flavor of the bread. I don't butter bread or dinner rolls very often either. And never butter sweet rolls.

Depends on the muffin.
Bran, yes, with cheese too! Banana, no butter, but a hunk of cheese goes good with it.

My pineapple and sour cream muffins and rhubarb.....definitely no butter

I SO rarely eat English Muffins because I love all that butter sitting in all those holes....makes them a no,no. Sweet muffins, also rarely, don't need butter usually. Nanny

I like a thin "coat" of butter and a slice of Kraft sliced cheese on them....
