What's for dinner 12/30?

This is the last meal I'm cooking--well, for this year, at least. We had to go to Gainesville this morning to have Harry's blood work done and an appointment with the Coumadin pharmacist. Left home around 7:30 and we were home before noon. It's 50 miles each way. Then this afternoon we did our grocery shopping in a store full of crazy people. I haven't checked but I'd bet it was a full moon the way people were acting. We didn't need a lot but there was lots of manipulating our way around carts left in the middle of the aisles.

Got home and put the stuff away and made a pot of chili. So it's just chili and crackers tonight.

Beef/gravy, barley, corn and green beans. But wait a couple of hours and I'll take a bowl of your chili and one of Sue's ham sandwiches.

Hi Terri! I'll post my dinner here, so that my thread drops down. We set a record temperature for cold last nite -30C. It warmed up to be a beautiful, sunny winter day. -11C. Hubby had the urge for hotdogs, so he had 2 of those and I had a sausage on a bun, loaded with mustard, onions and sauerkraut. Bought some potato salad and coleslaw to go with them. I made a cherry cheesecake last nite and we had that for dessert. It's the uncooked, refrigerated kind with whipped cream. Delish!

Oh Patti! I am full of envy reading about your tomato plant. Mine are healthy but not growing! They seemed to stop at 1.5 ft. sniff... don't know when I would even see flowers. Oh well... I wanted some fried chicken for dinner but didn't like the store bought ones. Those are so greasy and unhealthy. So, I made some my own. I used beat egg mixture (beat egg + hoison sauce + water) and wheat flour with seasonings for coating. Then deep fried the chicken on hot oil for 20 seconds. I placed them in a cast iron skillet and finished cooking the chicken in the oven (baked 350F for 25 mins.) They were crispy (not hard), juicy and much less fat than frying all the way.

DH is bring home broasted chicken from a new place he spied by his gym~~~~on my yoga nights I pre~prep dinner and he cooks it~~~since the time change and the cold weather he is doing more take out;) I love it I do not have to do anything and hardly any clean up! I ran by Alberstons bakery earlier you can buy 1 piece of cake there for $1.99 big enough for us to share~~I got carrot cake it makes me look like I am doing something LOL!!!

nope not a full moon..just folks prepping early for their "party food"...

We are having roast chicken, mashed taters and something green.

Left-over ham in a sandwich and sweet potato fries. Maybe a glass of wine with that.....I've been dismembering the tree and need a lift. We're getting a lot of snow...about four inches since noon, so I feel isolated already!

we had these salmon "burgers" (costco) leftover corn souffle and salad...flavor good, and just the right size portion...

I have one of the great boneless chickens stuffed with crawfish jambalaya inside cooking in the oven right now. they are soooo good.

I expect to gobble ... turkey.

Toast or potatoes, and gravy; maybe peas.

Cherry pie (or I'll have to thaw some apple).

Milk (maybe coffee).
