What's for dinner Friday?

We're having beef stew again tonight--this time with biscuits.

I made peanut butter fudge and caramels this afternoon. Those darned caramels take forever but they sure are worth it.

Harry took the car in for repair because the "Check Engine" light came on. Long story short, they brought him home and had the car most of the day. Bottom line was it cost $565 to fix. (The part cost $340.) They checked some other things, too. But what a time of year to have that when we just had to pay over $5100 for our part of the roof. And do Christmas! Drats!!

We are headed out to pick up order of pizza and wings from Papa John's. Special of half off everything for people that own a business. I baked a cake too and we are meeting at Amber and Mike's. Your caramels sound really good Patti. Sorry about the big car bill.

I'm passing. I am sooooo tired. Had my golf group here for lunch today. I love doing it, but all these late nights have finally caught up to me.

Kayjones: I'll take one of each. Haven't had either one in a long time. Sue: You do eating right by not eating a full meal when you're only hungry for a banana. I'd have to add it to a bowl of oatmeal. lol The bananas haven't looked good in my area lately so haven't bought any for about a month. Jasdip: Your entire meal sounds like something I'd like to try. I'll take a small amount of each. Mary: What did you put in your shells? Ravencajun: I like your kind of soup. I often do that myself. I also wish more restaurants would offer half portions or something similar. I'm not sure about dinner yet. It's 8pm & DH is working an hour & a half away. He'll probably end up grabbing something on the way home. In that case, I'll just make myself a sandwich & have some fruit & yogurt. I have enough stuffed pepper mix to make a batch tonight, but I've had a headache for several hours & don't really feel like doing that. It's actually supposed to be sunny here tomorrow. I'm trying to get some household things done in spite of the headache so I can spend some time at the pool tomorrow.

I'm so glad you were able to eat a bit of food Patti! That's a great sight to see. We ate really late. I decided I wanted to have a pork picnic shoulder that was on sale for dinner. Boiled with potatoes. So we went to the store to get it and I boiled it for about 3 hours. Some potatoes went in the pot and some carrots later on. We just love ham that way. This is the second time I've done it, the first was with green beans. Hubby and I couldn't get enough tonite! :) I've got all this wonderful ham stock and we don't like a ham and pea type soup. But I'm planning to make cabbage soup tomorrow and I'm definitely going to be using some of the stock in that. I think it will taste great. Also I can see it as a base for potato soup for some yummy flavour. So I'd better be freezing the stock.

Marilyn3444 - thank you so much for the recipe. I'll make it soon. I spent the better part of the day prepping for and traveling to and from the hospital for a CT scan. Very chilly and rainy here. Took some pork and kraut I made last month out of the freezer and heated it in the oven. Pan roasted the rest of the "Tiny Potatoes" I got at a Trader Joe's earlier in the week. We had some crusty rolls and whole grain mustard with it all. I'm very tired. Have to wait until Tuesday to hear what is causing this pain. It's hard not to worry.

I really admire you guys who pull meals out of the freezer.
I hate rummaging around in our chest freezer, finding anything. It's pretty much full, and I hate having to look for anything.

DH is out tonite....got a call from a guy who's seen his band a few times, and wants to book them for his father's birthday party in the spring, so they're meeting to book it.
Then the band is getting together. He wasn't hungry, so it's just me.

I found some stew from the freezer that I made in the slowcooker a while ago. Served it over rice from the freezer. I love freezing leftover rice.

I freeze rice too, Jasdip. So handy to have on hand.

Poor Georgysmom, as if the holidays aren't stressful enough without all the entertaining. You're such a nice friend to treat your friends to a night out with a wonderful meal. Now go to bed--right now!! ;-)

Thanks, Sue. We really didn't need that bill right now, but isn't that how it always happens? I'm grateful we could pay it, though. I've never had Papa John's pizza, but I hear it's really good. Can the baby have a bite or two? I wonder what she'll think about Christmas when she gets spoiled by grandma and all her aunts/uncles?

I made up a big pot of chili for tonight! Our weather here in Houston cooled off just enough to make chili a good choice for tonight! Also making a big batch of Texas Caviar for some great friends. They're hosting an Open House tomorrow night and asked if I minded bringing the Caviar.

We picked up some ground beef and today I split into portions and froze. I was thinking about chili. I just love that stuff!

pattie43, my very large pot of chili is ALL GONE! We had 2 of our sons (20 & 25 yrs old) at home, one of their friends and 3 of our friends...everyone had a bowl of chili. I started with 3# of ground beef...so I expected leftovers, but at least no one went hungry!

No Patti, no pizza for Alyssa. She had baby food and some pudding for her supper. We also had cheesy bread sticks, I didn't try them as I was too full, but everything else was really good. We had some kind of pizza called the works, and then one with chicken, smokey bacon, and pineapple on it. The wings were tasty also. We all had water to drink. They ate half of the French vanilla cake I took. Left it there as I didn't need it here.
