This is the second year I have asked, and think I'll get one this time.

A new toilet seat!

DS didn't really believe my request last year, but the other day he said "do you really want a toilet seat?"

My boss sent me an extremely generous Christmas gift so I decided to get my iPad. Went and got it yesterday, WiFi and Verizon 3G. So I'm now learning what to do with it. So far I love it.

I have one and agree with Resin on the end of the season browning. This year I'm going to try to keep it well watered to see if it does better. I don't like coddling plants, but I'm willing to try it for one year to see if it makes a difference. It sure is stunning early in the season though! Mine is almost the size of the one in the pic (after 5 years!) and just starting to make a statement in the spring. I can only imagine how gorgeous it will be as it gets bigger.

Aw, I love all these posts! I also agree and do think it is a wonderful and strengthening style. I have the corner cupboard and dough trough my g-g-grandfather made, along with the frakturs for his and his future wife's births/baptisms (Taufscheine-birth and baptismal certificates). Also, several pieces of art from my grandfather and grandmother and lots of miscellaneous stuff. Every time I sit in one of the recovered wing chairs, I think of family and there is another very high-backed wing chair in need of recovering that belonged to one of my grandfathers- it was the place he always sat when we were at his home. We always had to shake his hand when we left (he insisted on a good firm shake) at which point he would slip us a dollar. It is now in the library and the pink (!) upholstery doesn't bother me a bit. Wonder if that is why I can't seem to decide what to do with it. It does bring me joy to see these items scattered around the house. Mixed in with all my own stuff and even modern pieces, our home makes me smile. Guess we are all softies, huh? Not too bad! Great topic and perfect title for a decorating style!

Somehow I missed this thread. Boy, can I empathize! My house is a converted church and we have 4 (FOUR) closets in 3000 sf. 3 are the size of small coat closets, one is a bit larger. And, there is only a small galley kitchen, no pantry. Yes, this does make it hard to organize!!! Though this house is roughly 3X the size of our old one, there is less than half the storage space. There is only so much stuff you can get rid of! Of course, we spent all our $$ on the house, so remodeling is not an option in the near future. I put cabinets over the toilets - big enough for hand towels and washcloths and shampoo, etc. I keep the rest of the linens under the bed (in rolling drawers.) I still have to keep the vacuum cleaner behind the sofa (and my guitar underneath)! We have a large laundry room and I'm trying to figure out how to make better use of that space. What is frustrating is that there is space that we don't really use, but I'm not clever at trying to convert this space myself. The house is all windows, too, so that really cuts down on available wall space; the third floor is an attic conversion - very steep walls and not conducive to practical storage. If I had a nickel for every time I've banged my head up there! I did buy a couple of big melamine cabinets (garage quality) to store stuff in, and that has helped a little. Glad to know that I'm not the only one with this problem! I spend a lot of time on the home decorating forum and just drool over those new houses with big pantries and huge walk-ins. Lazy, I'm a naughty old lady AND I live in warm, sunny Florida - come on down, lay on the beach and swim in the beautiful ocean while I beat you about the head and neck with my garden shovel - how does that sound?

Glenda, I've been asking my landlord for a new toilet seat for months - they cost about $40 around here - I'm still asking!

I thought Glenda was asking for the same list as lazypup!!!!

Oh well, only traveled 200 miles today....home tomorrow, Yay!!!

(Of course when that 26 degrees of warmth hits me in the morning..I may not be saying yay!....but it will be Home sweet Home.)

Glenda,,don't let them lie to you,,you can get a descent toilet seat for half that price..

But while we are discussing toilets..let me share a story..

There was an old couple that lived out in the country and they had an outhouse. One day at breakfast the wife says to hubby,,if you get nothing else done today..fix that damn outhouse.

He went out and looked it over and found a door hinge loose, so he tightened it up, then he found a loosing siding board and nailed that tight.

The next morning she is on him again,,"I told you to fix that damn outhouse!!!"

He went back and looked again. Found one roofing shingle loose so he nailed that tight, then he looked all over but could find no more problems...

The next morning the wife is livid,,,she says,"If you don't fix that outhouse today, I am out of here!!!"

He says. "Wait a minute, I have looked at it three times and I fixed everything I could find that might be a problem, if you can show me the problem, I'll be glad to fix it."

So off to the outhouse they went and she said its inside, so he went in and looked around, but found no problems,,,she says, "Look down there real close at the seat."

He bent down and was looking at the seat, but still could not see any problem, but as he started to raise up his beard cought on a splinter and it yanked his hair,,he hollers "OOOOOOOOUCH"

She says,,,"Hurts don't it,,,now fix that damn thing!!"

Really having a hard time getting into the spirit of Christmas this year. My parents are suffering from alot of serious health issues. Not all of the boys and their families are going to be here for Christmas.... Not sure what's going on. I just know that I'm not "feeling" it this year.

I'm not either, Grannie - I'm not even putting up a tree or wrapping any gifts. If they don't want the present in a bag, I'll just keep it - I only bought 4 actual gifts - one for the neighbor lady and 3 for my Grand Daughter.

Not much spirit here either. If it wasnt for my DD and DSINL and My 2 DGDD coming hom from Michigan I wouldnt have even put up the tree. Just not the same since my parents died That is funny lazypup

"tv.with bose surround sound He says its for me for Christmas.....FOR ME?????You were so thoughtful..He shouldnt have ..I had a list .tv wasnt on it.
