We are going to cruise the mall, then over to the Elephant Bar for dinner~~I like the Pad Thai. I will most likely not be up at midnight~~~

Happy New Year's Patti! Lauren and Duray are going with Lauren's friends and having a New Year's Eve party at one of their homes tonight. I'm going to be home alone...so I bought a Wendy's chicken/apple/pecan salad. So yummy!

DH picked up some huge shrimp and some lobster tails today. He's already cooked the shrimp and made the sauce for shrimp cocktails. Just in case you get the wrong idea that he's a cook, he's not but he does have a limited number of things he can handle. I will cook the lobster tails. He also picked up some potato salad (I didn't envision potato salad but it's what he likes) and he bought some shredded cabbage. He made cole slaw and there was enough slaw left over for me to make Glenda's Alaskan slaw. I've been meaning to try it and had all the ingredients in the house so figured why not. Add to this a little champagne and that's what's for dinner tonight. It all sounds weird but you might as well end the year eating what you want! HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all!!!!

I had a potato left over so made home fries. Took a couple of beaten eggs and poured them over them. I also toasted a piece of homemade bread and had that with butter and jam. This is one of my favorite 'last minute and quick' meals.

We don't do anything New Years. I don't know if I'll even stay up to midnight!!!

We just had dinner......a quiche and a salad, roll and white wine. Well just watch a movie, I'll have to figure out what feel-good movie to watch.

Neighbor friend shared her gift certificate to Applebee's with me. Wow, such great service and food.

We had the 2 for $20.

Started with awesome chicken wing nuggets.
Friend had steak and veggies, and I had a super delicious
Quesadilla Burger.

We both had a to go box to take half of what we each ordered.

Hadn't been to Applebee's in years.

I made chili for tonight and it will probably last me the rest of the week. Also opened a bottle of merlot. I wish everyone a happy and healthy 2013!

Just reruns from last night. The ham showed up as ham salad on Croissants, the leftover mashed potatoes became potato cakes. And the cole slaw... just came as cole slaw--couldn't think of anything different to do with that--LOL.

We are having neighbors over for our Christmas tonight.
Lots of finger foods, trays of veggies, meats, cheese etc.
Wine and Margarittas. We are also exchanging Christmas gifts and then doing a dirty santa. We will retire by 10:00
DH and I haven't seen the new year come in for many years! Our morning starts about 4:30 AM

I have my new Aroma cooker loaded with my home made corn soup which is smelling wonderful. Will have some warm sourdough bread to sop up. We are hopefully going to make it to midnight and drink our Asti watching the ball drop.

Probably just picking. But yesterday...I found, bought and ate an entire wedge of cheese that was a combination of camembert and gorgonzola. I followed it with a dessert of Hershey's Hugs kisses. I wasn't able to go with hubby to our daughter's for our late Christmas because my mother went in the hospital. I will be bringing her home tomorrow. She is 91, broke her right wrist 2 weeks ago and had congestive heart failure last Friday. She lives alone with some help. Not sure of what is next. Her mind is fine and she will never go in a nursing home. Tom is on the road home now and hopes to make it about 11.

The traditional New Year's pork and sauerkraut tonight and tomorrow. Normally mashed potatoes and corn would be on the table also along with some applesauce. But we were out for a super sized breakfast this morning and still weren't all that interested is eating a big meal at 6. So we just had a little 'kraut and pork on a rye bun. Will add all the other stuff to the table tomorrow for the traditional 'Good Luck' in the New Year meal. It is a Pennsylvania thing.

I made 3 breakfast casseroles this morning for all of us. I ate more of them tonight.

YogaLady, I probably won't make it either, but I have good intentions. I really like Pad Thai, but Harry not so much. If you have time, look at the recipes of the week. I posted a soup recipe I think you may like.

Kathleen, how nice to have an evening alone. Bet you don't have many of those, so enjoy it. That salad sounds delicious. I've never tried it.

Georgysmom, I hope your lobster turns out better than mine. They weren't Maine lobster tails and not very tasty. I salute your DH for helping out--I know you've been working your fanny off in the kitchen.

Glenda, I haven't been to Applebee's for so long! We always loved eating there when we lived in Gainesville. They had an excellent Oriental chicken salad--but it's been years ago and don't know if they have it any longer.

Nancylee, don't think I've met you before, but welcome to the KT. Chili is an excellent idea. I could eat it every cold night we have. I don't put beans in mine. Just a lot of meat and chili powder/cumin :-)

Oh man, Azzalea, those ham salad sandwiches sound so yummy! Especially with the slaw. I hope it tasted as good as it sounds. Land, now I really, really want ham salad.

Cheryl, if I had to get up at 4:30 there'd be no way I'd even see 9 p.m. Have fun with your neighbors and get a good night's sleep.

Raven, was your Aroma cooker a Christmas gift? (Did I forget that? I do love Asti and meant to look for it when shopping today--but forgot to put it on the list--and you know how THAT goes :-(

Pam, I'm sorry you missed your family Christmas and hope your mother is going to be okay. She (and you) will have some decisions to make this year, I'm sure. But as long as she can manage with help, it's a good thing.

Gazania, that's traditional in Indiana, too. I just never could develop a fondness for sauerkraut. This year we aren't even following the Southern version of the "good luck" dinner--pork, greens and black-eyed peas. We decided we werent too fond of that either :-)

I went to a resturant with some friends and just as we finished our salads an announcement was made that everyone had to leave. There was smoke from an unknown source and there were about 4 fire trucks in the parking lot. We had to go to a nearby place but it took forever to be seated. All in all we had a good time and good food. Home by 8:30 and in my jammies. Happy and healthy new year wishes to all. Satine

Yes it was from my sister, when she got one a year ago I tried to steal it lol.
I absolutely love this thing, much more than a crockpot, it cooks fast but every thing maintains so much flavor. This was my first soup in it. I love that it sautes right in the cooker. I have been busy cooking meals in it I haven't yet cooked rice in it.
