free ftp site?

I am looking for a free ftp site where I (and a few others) can go to the site, put in a password and access stored files there. I would like for any of the users to be able to download a file, make changes to it and then upload it back to the site.

Is this possible?

Check with your IP service provider, they often offer FTP sites.

Found the problem. Service provider is making some major changes to the servers and the way we get email. I can't say the changes will be for the better (but they say it). Anyone ever heard of MailFoundry? It is the new service my provider will be using. Don't see how it can be better than Postini. You no longer have to log in to any web site to see what SPAM and viruses have been caught. You will get a daily email from MailFoundry showing what email has been caught and instructions on how to release an email that has been caught as SPAM. Any SPAM or Viruses will be deleted after 10 days on the MailFoundry filter. We hope this product will deliver the email you want to your inbox and catch the email you don't want.

Download.com is a safe place - provided you pay attention. It is very easy to get caught, you clicked on an advertisement not a recommendation from download.com, big difference. The advert says "Search and Destroy - free", the word Spybot does not appear and they will catch thousands with that sneaky approach so do not feel bad. Having removed the program I would most definitely go online for a free scan from Housecall, BitDefender or Symantec or your own favourite online scan to be sure you are clean. I would also run Crap Cleaner just to satisfy my mind.

LOL, OJ!

FTP = File Transfer Protocol. It is a method to transfer files - upload to a web server, then download to a different computer.

I use 4Shared and love it. I can store up to 5G and make it accessible to others. I can choose whether or not they can only download, or if they can then make changes to a file after download, then upload it again. And you can password protect.
