Update on fire at friend's house.

If you saw my post from yesterday you know my friend's house burned yesterday and her cat, Simon was missing. They found him safe but scared last night.

We took the camper over today so they have a place to stay on the property. The insurance guy wasn't happy about it. He sounds like a "by the book" kind of guy. Want them in an apartment. I'd like to see him find an apartment that will take 10 dogs and 2 cats!!!

I walked through the house. It was a mess. The living room was the burned the worst downstairs and all of upstairs is ruined. The fire restoration man came out this morning and was supposed to have a crew start the clean-up this afternoon. I think the bedroom furniture can be saved - smoke damage not water or fire in there. In the kitchen the cabinets have mostly smoke damage but the stuff inside the cabinets looks like it just needs cleaning. The China cabinet burned and the glass is broken but the stuff inside is just smoky. She was thrilled to find the Dyson Vac was safe. The whole front porch burned except for a stack of wood for the wood stove. It wasn't touched!

Aw, I am relieved they found the cat.

I can't imagine having to go through a fire like that and how devastating it could be.

You are a good friend to help them out with the camper.

Thanks for the update! It's good to know that the damage wasn't as bad. Everyone, including Simon, are ok and that's important.

Please keep us inform. We'll keep praying too.

Hey Guys, I've been gone for a while. It looks like I've got a lot of reading to catch up on. Ya'll have been having so much fun; I feel like I've missed out on a lot. My husband came home Monday after 3 weeks being gone and has been keeping me busy. I spent last weekend touring all the gardens of my daylily club members. Boy, do they put my yard to shame. I've only got one of them sized to upload so far. I'll try to get the rest of them done soon so I can share. This is what she called her children's garden. All the plants had names pertaining to kids. All the "candy" series of daylilies were planted around the pole house. Very, very cute. I particularly liked this little statue. Gotta go! Oh Beth--She has such a sweet face-and I'm sure she is so thankful to have a 'mommy' that will take good care of her-does she like to ride? Alli went everywhere with me- I am glad you have a companion--she will take care of you and be always on your side--and I won't have to think of you being alone!! Remy--I would like some rudbeckia--I manage a 30 year old 96 unit apartment complex that has been ignored for years--so I am planting things everywhere I can to 'perk' it up Carol has sent me some purple iris and Maureen sent dahlias and daylillies--Beth has been sending seeds every month-from a different swap-so it's starting to look up around here!! Thanks, April! I sew for fun, and also make quilts...but I never use a pattern. Can't read the things! Which is why I don't crochet much. I'm pretty good at knitting a simple afghan, though! :O) (meaning: if you like a single color, boring stitch!) lol Selling on Ebay is OK, but I've found it's only worth it with bigger ticket items, like over $10. Because there are list fees, ending value fees, and paypal fees too....so unless you charge an extra $2-3 on top of regular shipping charges (which most sellers do, it costs around $7 to ship a SHIRT! Geeze!). Anyway, I don't Ebay much anymore, only with things I KNOW will sell fairly well, because it just takes too much time...and it's not worth it in the end, to me. But I hope you make a good go of it, if you decide to try! Wishing you lots of luck!! :O) I forgot to show ya'll Aubeni's "cupcake". OhMyGoodness, I don't know WHAT I was thinking when I got this for her! (well, OK...it's pretty. That's what I was thinking!) :O) It's an 8" round Rose, chocolate cupcake in the middle (about the size of a mini muffin!!) and the rest is sugar icing. Big DUH here....I let her eat it for breakfast this morning!!!! I'm gonna be peeling her off the ceiling in about 30 minutes. (countdown begins....NOW......) LOL

Really WAY to go, Fox and I had to go through that with Cole, and we basically did it the same way. Sheesh whats wrong with some teachers? Teaching is not my calling I do know that and there are alot ALOT of wonderful teachers out there but then also there are some that just cater to the "in crowd" or something. Sheesh no child should be bullied and if the teachers don't step in while the kids are in their custody then by all means kids need to be able to defend themselves. (not with weapons or such) but you can't hide from a bully all your life and teachers need to realize the damage that it puts on our kids. I gave Cole a baseball bat after his older delinquent cousin kept picking on him then had the gall to come into our yard to pick on him, cousin is Alans age (4 years older than Cole), Alan hadn't gotten home yet and Cole came in crying with his head all red from being slapped so I handed him a baseball bat and told him to go have some swinging practice then I called Jack, a policeman friend and he came by and picked timothy up. He is now in a Juvie prison for some reason or other.

Isn't that the way some insurance people are though? Such a sad time for a fire. No time is ever good, but with Christmas near, I'm sure there were presents under the tree, with lots of memories on the tree.
I'm glad the kitty was okay. And I take it the 10 dogs too.

Yes, it is a terrible time of the year for this to happen. But any time of the year would be really bad for this too. What a relief her kitty was found safe.
And how silly of that insurance man to want them in an apartment with all their pets! I would think them being on site to prevent someone of "sight seeing" would please an insurance man.
I'm so sorry your friend had this happen.

I'm so glad it wasn't any worse than it was. So nice she was able to salvage her dishes, at least. I'm sure she'll find more as time goes by. What upsets me at a time like this is the pictures and keepsakes that are lost.

Funny about the firewood, though!

I missed this post yesterday. I'm so sorry for your friend's loss due to the fire, but it's wonderful news about the cat being found.

They are fortunate to have you and your family for friends.

Why would the insurance guy care if they are in an apartment or your camper? I would think he would be happy because it is saving the insurance company money.

I just read your previous post. Gosh what a terrible thing to happen! Glad everyone is safe, and that they found Simon. They're lucky they have such a good friend to help them out.

That's a great idea about the cards OJ. You are very kind. I don't want to post an address here but if anyone wants to send a card email me through my page and I will give the address.

Work address won't do. Our office is close after tomorrow until after New Years.

Leslie, all the dogs were safe from the beginning. 7 were in the kennel away from the house and the 3 that were inside and Simon got out through the doggie door.

The agent was the idiot that was telling them they couldn't stay there and had to go to an apartment. The insurance adjuster told them to ignore him. I think they may be getting a mobile home until they can rebuild. I don't know the details but I think it will take awhile to get that in place because of the holidays.

They are still having trouble getting an electrician to get power to the barn, greenhouses and well pump. I don't know why he didn't do it when he came out to put the breakers and outlets to use for the camper.

So glad she found her cat..............I still look for Rex...but tell her....to make sure if it is fireburned to turn it in.....When we lost our house they paid us over 700 dollars a month to live on....weather we had to pay rent or not that must hve been in or policy....but I pray they had depecation on the house and contents....we did not and if it had not been for teh kindness of teh kt an dour community ...we would have been up a creek...we were truly Blessed! I pray they will be also...Stacy
