I love to bake and make candy - the mess doesn't bother me.

I am a baker, and have a baking business. I like cooking as well but not as much. I've found that usually (at least among those who like to be in the kitchen) people fall into the cooking camp or the baking camp.

To do baking correctly, it takes a lot of precise measurements, often with various tools, and a lot of monitoring. For me, the difference between an amazing cake and an average cake is less than two minutes in the oven so if you aren't paying precise attention, the results can really be disappointing. I thrive in controlled environments like this. I'm a data analyst professionally so there's definitely a correlation.

On the other side, I see people who enjoy cooking are generally more creative. They substitute and adjust on the fly and figure out what something is missing to balance it out. It generally doesn't take perfect timing or observation, and adding something in a quantity until it looks right is a perfectly valid way to measure. :)

I like to cook, and don't mind baking, but pies, cakes, larger items. I have no patience for sheet after sheet of little individual cookies, or even big cookies, I don't want to be fussing with 6 dozen things. Ask me for a pie, or rolls and I can come up with something you'll enjoy. If you are looking for traditional decorated, fussed over plates of cookies or even candy, you're in the wrong kitchen ;)

I don't mind it. I just wish I had an oven that would fit more than a quarter sheet pan at a time.

I am one who loves to cook & bake. when I was a kid my Mom would let me make dinner & dessert every Sat. I started at 10 & never stopped enjoying the kitchen. Easy or hard it does not matter to me.

I've lost my love for cooking in general. I believe that in my case it is due to the fact that I have a very unorganized tiny little kitchen. Almost zero counter space. I can be cooking just a regular ol' daily meal and I will completely run out of places to set things down...it's ridiculous! I have always had nice big kitchens in the past and this one is just DYSFUNCTIONAL! GAH!

Love cooking. No baking here.

I love to bake and cook,but finding the time is my problem. There are always so many other things that have to be taken care of it seems.

Hate to cook, but love to bake. Its a struggle somedays to get into the kitchen cooking a meal. Baking is a different story. Admit I have a five year old little helper that makes me very happy when we bake together. My family said she was the one that taught me to cook. Been married for 54 years and never liked to cook.

I don't love to do either. I cook out of necessity, otherwise we'd eat out most of the time. I just don't have time for baking. I used to enjoy baking bread though, and have been thinking about doing that again.

If I was given a choice to bake 5 dozen bars/cookies for the church bake sale, or plan/buy/cook/serve a Thanksgiving dinner for 12, I'd take the dinner in a heartbeat over the crazy details of baking cookies. Drives me nuts. The people who can do it earn my everlasting praise.

I am not a baker, either, though do so for special occasions. I sure don't like it, but can turn out a nice product. When asked to bring something to a pot luck, I will never volunteer dessert.

I'm glad that I love to cook, though. I enjoy that process very much.

I love to bake. Cooking is just something I do so that I may eat.

I love to bake....especially when my DH cleans the kitchen afterwards.

I use to do more baking when I had a larger family. My grandmas (both) were real good cooks but my mom was not. Now I am down to me! and i have challenged my self to prepare balance meals, as I don't want to drive 30 miles just to eat out. And doing pretty good. Since I do not eat much sweets I haven't put on any weight since DH passed away, but not lost any either. If I am asked to take anything to a meeting, I go with a standard box mix of cupcakes with a crumb topping. That always goes over good as I have tried many other items and due to a culture difference between west coast and mid west, my Calif cooking just doesn't go too well in this area. I do make a good enchilada casserole, but even using the mildest sauce avaiable, no one will eat it. That I learned the hard way.

I am very neat and orderly and can substitute on the fly and still stay neat when I`m cooking but BOY! am I ever a messy baker.

When we redid our kitchen I made sure I had a decent amount of counter space for baking - 7` and I use every inch. I bake above the DW and next to the sink so that I can throw everything (and I use a lot of everythings) straight into one or the other.

When baking I plan on an hour of clean-up afterwards and I usually have to wash the floor and change my socks. I don`t usually wear slippers when baking because I`m so messy they would have to go into the washing machine. I don`t know why this happens but it does.

I prefer cleaning toilets to baking.

That said, I love cooking meals.

I love it..and I don't find baking so precise...I like to take a recipe and make it my own.

I like to be in the kitchen...cooking or baking...

I used to like to bake but as time goes by I don't really care to do it much anymore. I DON'T like to cook meals but because we live in a rural area, home cooking is tastier and less expensive and we have to eat, I do cook. I'm really not a bad cook but could be a better cook if I enjoyed it.

we used to do cookies in one day (3-4 kinds) used one mixer and one set utensils...what we did was start with light (sugar cookies) and went to dark (drops, chocolate, fruit) really didn't have to wash the beaters, ect...

I don't love cooking or baking. It's something I do out of necessity. If I had to choose, I'm more of a cook.

I dont like cooking or baking, except for company. A few years ago I got ambitious and decided to make several different kinds of Christmas cookies....OMG, I was in the bloody kitchen all day and was exhausted! Now, if I do bake, I make the dough one day and bake them the next, especially if I am doing several different kinds. Cookies are a pain because you can only do one tray at a time...takes forever!
