Probsbly in a couple of weeks..we always get a cut tree.

But, over the weekend, we got all the decorations down from the attic, bought some new outside ones, and the outside is about 1/2 done.

Inside decorations are,uh, in progress - all in a pile around the server in the kitchen, and every once in a while, we find a place for something.

Probably in about a week and a half. One year, we thought we didn't feel like it, and didn't put one up, and we regretted it. It just didn't feel like Christmas.

No tree up here yet.

No the tree won't go up for a week or 2..the boys will of course bug me until it's up(Our house is small and the tree takes up alot of room, I don't have to spare.)...I did start pulling the knick knacks and other decorations out..and have a few things up..took all my fall stuff and put it away..
The older two just got off the bus...so I'm going to have them help me get the new lights I just bought up outside.

Not yet, but it will go up soon. Sometimes we get it up Thanksgiving weekend, other times as late as the weekend before Christmas. I hope Winston the cat isn't quite as fasinated with the ornaments this year.

I put mine up yesteday and decorated it today. I'm not going to a lot of trouble with it. Just glad its done!

Ours is up--we always put it up the day after Thanksgiving. I'm not sure how that became tradition but it did. I am mighty tired of keeping the dogs out of it by Christmas though.

Mine is up and I put out a lot of my Christmas decorations today..Now if I can find my outside decorations. My DH rearranged my stuff in the attic and I can't find a thing. I use to know where everything was. No more!!!

My fake tree is up and looks beeyootiful!
Custer and the kids got a load of firewood and a fresh tree yesterday. It will go up in the family room around the 13th.
Tonight I will finish decorating the upstairs.
If the weather is good, tomorrow I will put up the outside lights.

I need to find a space large enough for my christmas village...

This year I am not feeling "Christmasy". The base and pole of the tree is in the living room, but the branches haven't found their way down the stairs yet. It's a huge job. Putting it up and then taking it down. I dread it.

If mine goes up it will not have any ornaments on it! It's prelit, so it would be easy, but don't know if I have the energy for it.

Mine won't go up until the weekend before Christmas. I like it to look fresh and new Christmas week, so it only goes up a few days before.

Not a big challenge to put it up, though--I put my 2 trees away decorated. We just leave the lights and most of the ornaments on the tree, take it to the basement and drop a big plastic bag over it. Means putting it up and taking it down takes only about 10 minutes.

Normally, we'd be putting up the outdoor decorations now. We usually do a huge display that take DH about 2 weeks to put up, but we've been too busy working on the other house, and moving stuff--and we're not here most weekends--to put up the usual display.

I want a new tree--a white one. I bought aqua and purple ornaments last year when they were on sale. My living room has those colors so I figure it'd be easy to not have to take pictures down and change the couch cushions. I never had a white tree, but always wanted one. Anyone else have a white one?

Ours went up Friday after Thanksgiving. It's not a rule, but that's when it went up this year. It's artificial, and old enough that it's not prelit. My 12 y/o DS loves to put stuff together... that's an understatement. He has more drawers of building toys than of clothes. Couple years ago he discovered the Christmas tree as a building project. Ever since, he is begging to get it out and put it together starting with dessert at Thanksgiving.

THis year, he got it out of the back of the attic, got it downstairs and put it together, lights and all, all by himself. He's wants no help, and is probably more efficient at it than either DH or myself anyway. Then we all put the decorations on it.

He's also very good at steam cleaning carpets. He might be able to start his own little business. Carpets and Christmas Trees. LOL.

I've always put mine up the Thanksgiving afternoon the moment all the guests left, but the main reason I did was because I didn't know if I would get another day off before Christmas. This year, since I no longer work, I plan to put up at least one in about a week.

I usually put mine up the first weekend in Dec.But this year i'm not putting it up at all.I have chemo twice this month,so know that i will not be up to doing it.I did take down my fall decor saturday,and just put my white lace tablecloth on the dining room table and my santa placemats.Added a centerpiece,and put a couple of my xmas cross stitch pictures on the buffet,and hutch.

I also put the wreath on the door,and the santas and snowmen in my garden,and that's all i'm doing.I'll make up for it next year.

The tree is going up tomorrow,I have most of my knick-knacks up.A friend stopped by tonight and started laughing,she says it looks like a penguin explosion happened in my living room.I can't help it they are my favorite,they are everywhere.

DH is putting it up (hopefully) while I am away next week. He does the tree and the lights and I do the ornaments. I'm leaving him with a long honey-do list. ;-)

I am putting one up this year for the grandchildren but probably not for another week or two. We used to do it the day after my boys finished school for the long summer holidays, about a week before Christmas. I was hoping to have my eldest grandson to help but I am not going to be able to see him until after Christmas this year so we will celebrate his December birthday and Christmas early in January. I did set up my tabletop ornaments on the top shelf of my computer desk when I was rearranging the room today. My DIL who lives around the corner from me is going to host Christmas and it is lovely to see her so excited about it all. The last two Christmases she was 2 weeks away from giving birth and worn out in the heat. The 3 1/2 yr old and almost 2 yr old should be OK. but it will be fun to watch the almost 1yr old wreak havoc on the tree. I suggested they tie it to the ceiling beams with fishing line or he will have it on the floor in no time, little monkey. Beth

I am still in that 'old school' thinking that when a tree is put up weeks before Christmas, it somehow looses all the magic that Christmas was when I was a kid. Years ago, before artificial trees, everyone I knew didn't put up their tree till at most a few days befor Christmas. then it was taken down about New Years Day, or clean up of needles was a nightmare. At our house, my Dad brought the tree into the house in the afternoon of Christmas Eve. After an all the fixins' dinner, we spent the evening decorating it. The house would have been decorated to the 'nines' during the week before using fresh greens, ribbon, etc. Home made construction paper chains draped from the doorways and the ceiling. We saved those chains and added to them every year. Do you remember those chains? The magic of Christmas was still fresh and new on Christmas morning. That has been taken away from kids today...IMHO.

Last year, was the earliest I have ever put up a tree...4 days before Christmas and it is artificial, all decorated 10 years ago and put away in a box to pulled out as is every year. My magical Christmas mornings are gone. Nobody here to see it but DH and I, so why bother. Kinda sad don't you think?

Mine goes up after my oldest daughters birthday on the 16th. Started that when she was about four years old, and still do it that way.

Not sure yet, where to put it in this house...

Doxiemom, you might find it worth while to go to the pet store and buy a "doggie playpen". It's a metal fencing that you can confine them in out side. My suggestion is to put it around your tree, instead! It will probably cost about $70, at least around here.

Kathi_mdgd, If it would make it feel more like Christmas for you, Stop at a craft store and get a two foot artificial tree and a few small decorations for it. It will only take a tiny bit of energy, a little bit of space, and maybe perk you up when you are feeling yucky after a treatment. You are in my prayers.

As for our tree, DS started asking before Thanksgiving when we were putting it up! He's 21! We have to do some finagaling with furniture this year, as he moved out for a short time and came back with a chair that is sitting in the middle of the living room with no place else to put it. I think I finally figured it out. It will go up soon!

I thought I posted to this thread yesterday, but guess not. Anyway, I put my tree up Sunday and finished decorating it yesterday morning. I am early this year as I usually wait till the second week in December. I'm glad it's up.

I've debated whether to put the tree up or not. Dd, my mom and I are going to Disney World for our Christmas. Dh doesn't want anything and said he'd rather us just have more money for Disney than any gifts. His son that lives with us just wants cash this year. My mom and I aren't buying for each other this year since we are taking the Disney trip together. And his older children that live in TX we always send cash too. So basically, the only gifts to go under the tree this year are for my little nephew and for my in-laws. Thus the dilemma to put up the tree or not. I left it up to dd, who is 15, and she said yes, she wants a tree. So I got it up the night before last, but still have't adjusted the branches or decorated it yet.

I haven't started yet. I like to put up a few house decorations first, then set up the tree the weekend before Christmas. I have finally started shopping. Got some things for DH and our two daughters.

My favorite tree was an artificial we put up when we were raising a litter of 4 kittens, about 3-4 months old and very naughty that Christmas. So I mounted the tree upside down from the ceiling. I have the neatest picture of one of the kittens sitting on the top of the packages, staring intensely at all the glittering ornaments and trying to figure out how to get to them. Priceless!

I was at a friends house Sunday and she had started decorating the day before..she had two white trees up..one was about 6' tall and the other about 2'. The taller one was lit and decorated with silver, and slate and crystal and glass...really lovely...she hadn't added the decorations to the little tree...nor her main living room tree it was just on.

I started taking out stuff yesterday the little boys have their 2 footer in their room lit up and I only found 1 ornament so far in the first box and the middle one went in and took some grosgrain ribbon from my kraft basket and started winding them around the tree..
I still told them the main tree won't be up for a week or better..and to not ask me again, until they come from school and see it standing waiting for them to decorate. LOL

Probably this weekend. We didn't put one up last year, my RA had me in its grips and DH was suffering with carpal tunnel issues, we were lucky we could even move around!

I started decorating the house this past weekend. I always think that it will only take me one day...hah! The pine garlands for the stairs and living room stone ledge and tree went up on Sunday and I decorated the tree last night. This morning before I came to work I decorated our living room armoire with greenery and lights. Tonight I'll do the fireplace mantle with greenery and lights. Then on to the kitchen! I decorate the glass-fronted cabinets with ribbons and boughs, which usually takes me a couple of hours. then a few odds and ends throughout this week and I should be done by this weekend. Whew!

We threw out our old artifical tree when we moved east this year,so for the first time in eons,we will go to the back of our property and cut one in a couple of weeks,because I want it to be fresh for Christmas.

I started today. It is a struggle for me these days but I enjoy it so much when it is all done. It just takes me longer..

My sister-in-law and her sisters bought her 80 something year old Mom one with the fiber-optic lights on it last year. They thought it would be so much easier for her. Well, she couldn't figure out how to get the lights off so she cut them off. The daughters died when she told them.. Of cource, they said nothing. They are back to helping her put lights on a tree...
