... each is one of those "four-letter" words.

Like a boil on the bum of the internet.

That is otherwise in many ways a boon to humankind.

The sad thing is how many still fall for these scams and get bitten.

Trouble is, some people will think it's legitiment.

The people that are stupid enough to fall for this garbage deserve what they get. I have no sympathy for them anymore. It just proves what I've said all along, people should have to take a test to get an internet license. If you're too stupid to know better than to fall for chain letters and scams you're too stupid to be on the internet and not competent to have email where you can infect other people by your own laziness and ignorance. People get new computers and first thing is go on the internet and infect it. Don't bother securing it, just infect it quick. Don't learn how to use it, just hop on and don't give a flying flirt about anyone else. Use of the internet is a privelege and I'm sick of people abusing that privilege. Nope, I don't feel sorry for idiots anymore and what's more, I'm sorry I ever did.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to forward a $200 cookie recipe and get back to a Nigerian General who has chosen me out of all the people in the world to share his millions!

OK, Cynic....don't have a cow, man. LOL I am one of those who just kind of plug along, trying to learn to use this machine the best I can in my advanced age. I am also a very cautious and skeptical old lady, and get all kinds of offers and "official" notices everyday. I just delete, delete, delete. I did get one notice a few weeks ago that sounded iffy, so I called the tech guy from my internet server and forwarded it to him and he said it was a scam from the Netherlands, so he sent a warning to the other subscribers about it. I can't say I don't feel sorry for those who fall for these scams, I have a hard time understanding why they fall for them in the first place. Dottie

We know we can't fix stupid, but we can keep trying to help some who are just naive and fearful.

This particular Scam looks so innocent, unlike most which are blatently unbelievable. It would be easy for a PC newbie, or one of those Seniors or Elderly who are always mentioned as having been gullible and trusting, and/or greedy, and lost a lot of money, to read that and be afraid of what could happen if they didn't respond.

I posted this Scam alert for that reason;, in hopes that KTers would alert family members or friends who might be so easlly taken in.

BTW, When you get your $$$ from Nigeria, I'm wondering if I could maybe borrow a small sum?

I disagree. It is not stupidity, it's ignorance. No one asked for sympathy cynic, just understanding.
People get computers for various reasons. I got my husband a computer to occupy his time when he retired on disability. Having coronary disease does not improve, only gets worse.
He is now in final stage heart failure and an amputee in a wheelchair. With all the strokes and heart attacks, his mind is not as sharp.
I have explained about not opening emails unless it's from someone he knows. He may open one in error. I will not take the computer away from him. He's already lost so much.
Until you walk in some of the users' shoes that make a mistake, cynic, may I suggest you be a little kinder and more understanding. I'm certain that is what you would hope for if you were in some of these situations.
