Good News But Jealous

As everyone probably knows, I have failed kidneys. I get dialysis treatment three mornings a week and I'm on a list to get a kidney transplant. Yesterday, the technician came to me smiling and said "Alice is getting her transplant." Alice is another woman, about my age, who gets (or got) dialysis the same schedule as me. We got friendly, say hi and talk about our husbands and kids, we go to the same hairdresser in my town, and I see her or her husband in the grocery store once in a while. I am so happy for her. But I'm jealous, too. When will my transplant come? The doctors and transplant organization UNOS are very mysterious and close-mouthed. They confirm I'm on the list but won't tell me what number I am or how many others, or how long I'll wait. But the fact Alice got her transplant means I'll get mine some day. As the technician sad "At Christmas. Perfect timimg."
