Well I thought I was done Christmas shopping....

I bought my sister a cookbook that she has been looking for. She has been looking for this cookbook for the last 2 months so I was really excited when I found it. I talked to her Tuesday night and SURPRISE she found it too and bought it for herself. So after I screamed and yelled at her for buying herself something I returned the cookbook and found really pretty pajamas.

I bought my DFIL a predator call from Cabelas. He went out the day after and bought one for himself. So after I sreamed and yelled at him, I returned it and had to find something else.

I bought my mom a set of new pots and pans. I just got off the phone with her and she just ordered herself a new set of pots and pans.

I give up.....

LOL Why don't people wait til after Christmas?
I feel for you. I'd give them a gift card and they can like it or lump it!

I thought I was done too, I *thought* 3 of us GF's had decided not to exchange gifts this year. Got a card the other day from one and she is having her DD drop off my gift! What???? Cross one name off and add two more I guess! LOL

LOL, sounds like your "loved ones" don't want any Christmas presents. :)

We thought we were done too, after buying new mattress and box springs, but then the ice came, and we now have another "early" Christmas present, aka a chainsaw.

FWIW, I've always had spotty germination with PCF and Gaillardia. To compensate, I sow REALLY thickly. I'm not as diligent about watering; they get it when I'm out there, and whichever ones I "see" that are definitely needing it. Ruds are also sprinkled really thickly, but I have spotty patchy germination, as well. Do you "place" your seeds in the containers, or just sprinkle them in? I count pretty much nothing; just sow heavily. And...FWIW, I'm still WSing- by that I mean still going...because I just didn't do enough over the winter/early spring, and I just want to do more. It's not too late to still start things. Toss in some Sweet Williams- they're bis, so they'll grow well this year, and flower next (and you'll likely never have to WS them again; I WSd them one year about 5 years ago, and don't have to ever re-WS them. Super easy). Also Dianthus/Carnations don't need cold strat, so you could do those...I'm sure there's piles of perennials that don't need cold strat that you could start now; I just don't have a list.

Oh Wow...that tree is a 'Blast From The Past' !! I made one of those in the late 60's! It WAS so easy to do and drew lots of compliments. It also reminds me of all the 'quirky' decorations that were being created around that time. TFS this it was fun to see. jane

Yep...I collect many of the above mentioned items. I have over 100 pieces of cast iron. They do look good hung like that...had some hanging in my last house. I like any vintage kitchen things. Anything for the garden...collect clay pots, plant stands, pots with attached saucers, cool or old pots of any kind. Collect items with waterlilies on them...mainly plates, also have buttons and jewelry. Mixing bowls. Pyrex. Jadite. Anything from the early 1900's through the 1950's, and some '60's. Older too, if I can find it. Cookie cutters and old kitchen utensils. I like the ones with colored plastic handles. I also like the little kitchen items made out of hard plastic that have advertizing on them. Turkey platters and little turkeys, jack o' lanterns and miniature ones, old Christmas ornaments, raccoon Christmas ornaments, old photos of animals, especially raccoons, and the old pony pics made by the photographers who used to go around house to house with the ponies and take children's pictures. I like anything tiny and old...little vases, figurines. Old dishes made in Czechoslavkia (I know that is misspelled...don't want to go in there and open the cupboard which is like Fibber McGee's closet, if any of you are old enough to remember that radio program from the 1950's.) Old marbles, old and/or broken jewelry, dice, photo charms, old blankets, tableclothes, napkins, incense burners, old horse figurines from the 1950's...especially palominos. :) Some of my collections I have narrowed down to very specific items...like the above palomino horses. I also collect goldfish items, but only if they are old. Cast iron garden lanterns that are owls...I have about 10 different ones. Also owls in general, if they are different than the ones you see in so many collections. My criteria is old or really interesting looking. I have a great horned owl tv light, for example. Anything that is rustic...old carved wooden bears. Wooden dogs or animals with glass eyes...if they are old. Besides dogs, I have owls and birds. Lots more stuff...I just love junk.

Astrid: The Kohler Bakersfield is 30x21 overall and the bowl measurement is 27x15x8. Wouldn't the 15 be across the sink, back to front? And, so you figure a little over half of that (7.5 to 8 inches) would be the reach you're talking about? Now I'm wondering if the sink is too narrow. What do you think? Unfortunately, I won't see this sink or faucet to measure until I get to the states - we leave Saturday for Christmas holiday so I will be able to do some looking around. I hope I can see the Franke bowls that you mentioned, too. I haven't totally dismissed them. Thanks for all your input and making me think a little more about this!

Well, maybe they are like me... they never shop much until they are shopping for others.
I really hate to shop, so when I do, I always see things I want, too! :-)

The shopping is tough, definitely a struggle. My girlfriend told me she wanted a certain cookbook, then last week called and told me someone else got it for her. So I was stuck with the cookbook and had to go do more shopping.

Off the subject a little: cooking, decorating, entertaining, shopping for gifts--any one of these alone would be enough to keep a person busy, but all at once....just too much!!!

I know all about that! I was ready to order MIL some sneakers that she had asked for but she went and bought them herself. Thankfully I hadn't ordered yet when she emailed and told me. She's getting a giftcard now!

I gave my husband a gift certificate for Amazon the day AFTER he ordered himself $400 worth of toys on their site. Now he'll just have to order at least one more gift for himself. Poor boy!

I feel your pain! I got a crockpot for DS and DSIL because they really, really wanted one. I guess they really did, cause they went out and bought one! Grandson loves Spiderman so being the amazing Grandma that I am, I went out and got the cutest Spiderman backpack, water bottle and a couple of other goodies. Guess what!!! His dad found the same one at Kohl's and couldn't wait to get it for him! I bought a Maya Angelou book for my daughter and then she phoned. Yep, she had already bought it!! I never liked the idea of giving money or gift certificates but it is really beginning to appeal to me! Bettye

Me too. Gift cards for the adults, and those who didn't give me any clues as to what they want. Except for the little kids. They'll get something to open. It's for the little ones anyway I think.
