I know. There's no stopping me. :-) Well, actually there is. I'll have to stop when my funds get a little lower!

I pick up at least one free book a day from Amazon. I get the 3 email lists with all the great deals and freebies daily. Pixelofink.com, bookbub.com, and bookgorilla.com. So many wonderful free books offered daily. I have the kindle app on all of my devices which allows me to read any kindle books, but I can also read other formats like epub with my other reader apps like aldiko, there are free lists for those also out there. Today there are another 2 of the J.A. Konrath series for free and one for 99c. I now have just about that entire series by picking them up every time one was on for free. The main character is a woman detective, her name is Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels which is why the names of the books are all drink names. Dirty Martini - A Thriller Cherry Bomb - A Thriller Whiskey Sour - A Thriller

I read the first book of the trilogy a couple of years ago and loved it. And my interests are so varied - I enjoy romance, mystery, horror, biography, just about anything except the new zombie craze. And I can't really say I don't enjoy it, because I haven't tried it yet. DH does not enjoy reading because of his dyslexia, so we have been listening to audiobooks together in the evenings while working at the computer. Since I enjoyed the book so much, The Hunger Games trilogy was the first thing we listened to. We think the narrator for this series did an excellent job. He absolutely loved the whole series and couldn't wait to go and see the movie. We did enjoy the movie, but as usual, the book was better. And as another poster said, if you didn't read the book first you would have missed a bit. As for the theme, well, you must remember, as another poster said, it's FICTION. Just because I enjoy a romance doesn't mean I expect Prince Charming to show up and whisk me away. People die (often horrible deaths) in mysteries and horror, too. But I have no trouble separating fiction from reality.

socks, you can keep a library (Overdrive) sourced Kindle book and keep reading it on a Kindle reader for months and months IF (and only if) you turn off your data signal (whether Wifi or through a cell carrier). It's through that sign on that the Amazon site is contacted and the deadlines for library downloads are enforced and overdue ones get deleted. How you make that work is by downloading several books at a time, read them all with the data signal off, then connect and download several more. Repeat as desired. chisue, while there are Overdrive apps for different tablets and PCs, you can only check out library books from libraries where you have an account. But different libraries have different/nonidentical Overdrive subscriptions so you're likely to find books on the Hawaii Library Overdrive site that may not be available from your home library and vice versa. You can download Overdrive material from anywhere. Several of my kids have spent time living abroad and they were able to continue to download Overdrive-sourced Kindle and audio books using their US library accounts.
