Has anyone read Before I Go to Sleep? I was tempted to get it, but I don't want too much suspense. I did order The Thirteenth Tale.

Thank you! Although I normally just get the freebie books (Amazon isn't making a profit from me!), I picked up "The Dog Lived" and "Before I Go To Sleep", which I have been wanting to read. My friend read it and really liked it, but I can't comment yet on how much suspense there is in it.

Thanks for the link!

I just finished the book The Dog Lived and absolutely loved this book.

Not only did the dog live but so did the author as a survivor of breast cancer. It is one of the best cancer books I have read in a long time. I loved the humor in it as well.

Sounds interesting--and unusual. I ordered Patti Smith's book, and then Amazon informed me that I already had it on my Kindle. Guess I should pay more attention. :-) So then I bought Clara's War. I thought about getting one of Lisa Randall's books on the universe, but I didn't want to have to think that hard. Maybe another time.

I usually stick to Amazon's "daily deals" because they are cheaper. I read slowly and would not fully utilize the service, I don't think. Also, I work in a used bookstore and often get books there $2-4. But I do like to get the larger books (over 300 pgs) on kindle because it is more comfortable to read that way than handling a bigger book. But if you think you'll use the service, then great!

"My son shared his Amazon Prime membership with me, so I get free shipping, but when I try to borrow a book from the Lending Library, it won't work. Maybe the Lending Library is just for primary Prime members not the ones who it was shared to. If that makes any sense...." You can only download books to Kindles or other "apparatus" (like a pc or BlackBerry or iPhone, etc.) if that equipment is registered to the account of the person with the Prime membership.

Amazon has lots of free books if you don't want to pay even that little bit. I don't have a kindle just an Ipad and a computer so I downloaded the Kindle app at Amazon and have quite a collection of their free books and especially their free low carb cookbooks for Paleo and things like Coconut flour and Almond flour...check out their book club because they always have freebies listed..

I pick up at least one free book a day from Amazon. I get the 3 email lists with all the great deals and freebies daily. Pixelofink.com, bookbub.com, and bookgorilla.com.
So many wonderful free books offered daily. I have the kindle app on all of my devices which allows me to read any kindle books, but I can also read other formats like epub with my other reader apps like aldiko, there are free lists for those also out there.
Today there are another 2 of the J.A. Konrath series for free and one for 99c. I now have just about that entire series by picking them up every time one was on for free. The main character is a woman detective, her name is Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels which is why the names of the books are all drink names.

Okay, here's a free one for you:

The Candidate's Daughter is free just for today and tomorrow. I ordered it because the author is a friend of Sara J. Henry, author of Learning to Swim, which I loved.

Thanks to the above recommendations for The Dog Lived, I ordered that as well. Thanks!
