Do You Have it Planned?

Do you have your Christmas dinner planned? Ours will be around 1:00 on Christmas Day. I really haven't planned much yet, probably will have ham and turkey and lots of other things. How is your menu coming along?

We will also eat about 1:00 on Christmas day. we go to my sister-in laws. I bring all the food and cook there. She does not cook. We will have ham(yuk) kolbassi, scalloped potatoes,potato salad, veggie, and deviled eggs. One of her friends brings turkey and fixins left over from thanksgiving. Plus tons of muffins and cookies, while we open gifts. It usually takes us three hours to do that. Just six of us. They spend way too much . There is nothing I want this year, Told my Dsil just a pair of fuzzy socks.

I am instead working on my post-cantata breakfast menu...
this Sunday, we are hosting 25 for breakfast.

I'll work on our Christmas Eve feast AFTER that!

I am so looking forward to spring! There are three things that I am really looking forward to :) 1) I have an obnoxious amount of roses ordered and have their delivery dates spread out throughout spring. About 30 new roses I believe...plus currently working on an order with Burlington for about 6 more once I find out what Burling has avaiable, so far, Greensleaves, Purple Buttons, Senegal, Authur Bell, & Wedding Cake (yes, I know that one is sketchy). I also need to finish the beds I started last summer! It seems I do everything backwards (always...lol) I have all my roses from last year in the ground with munch around them & I have the beds bordered with railroad ties...however, I haven't finished mulching the beds. So right now it has a nice border...and the bed is filled with grass and weeds, filled in by roses with little circles of mulch around them...a funny sight! 2) Me and the person I refer to as my "other-half," whose real name is Bill, will finally be getting married in April after 5 years! So that will be exciting! I also think my parents are thrilled that their 34 year old daughter is finally tying the knot! 3) I volunteer every Saturday at a no-kill animal shelter (I also work full-time, but the shelter is where my heart is), and once the wedding is over, I'll have more time to devote to the shelter and fundraising efforts. The shelter and roses, are my two passions and occupy most of my free time (but it would drive me NUTS to sit still for any amount of time anyway :) ~Tammy

Sue, you have a lot going on--wish I could be there to play games. Rhizo, Robert is welcome to come wash and wax our dirty vehicles! Life has been busy lately, so I have had very little time to spend in my quilt studio. So, the last two days, I have been sewing like crazy--working on this year's donation quilt for the breast cancer fundraiser. Hopefully, I will finish the top tomorrow. I have plenty of time, since the event isn't until October, but I want to get it done. Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Glenn I have a Tropical Beauty I put in end of last March early April so this will be my second peach tree.. Rhonda I work on my property 5-6 days a week most of the day so time is no issue. Here is a list of what we planted in 2016 starting end of March early April. I cut down many large oaks, cut them up and woodchipped the brush. I moved over 300 yards of topsoil and compost by wheelbarrow and shovel that I brought in. I put in 9 12x4x 12 inch raised beds which I am moving now unfortunately because of bad planning. That was the hard work for 2016 now the fun part was planting. Keitt mango, Kent Mango, lost a rosigold mango to disease, Glenn mango, Valencia Pride mango, Altaufo mango From seed, Coconut Cream mango, bacon avocado, mexicola avocado, lost a Florida Hass to disease, Mauritius lychee, lost a sweetheart lychee from stupidity on my part trying to prune severely to a "better shape", Kari starfruit which I dug back up as it had a bad canker disease so I pruned it and potted it to nurse it bac, meanwhile I bought new Kari and planted it, kohola longan, Ruby red grapefruit, navel orange, Meyer lemon, pineapple orange, pink guava but unsure on cultivar, tropic beauty peach, saijo persimmon, 2 brown turkey figs, Jamaican cherry aka strawberry tree according to Floridians, mulberry but unsure of kind, two papaya from seed, 4 red lady papaya from seed, dwarf Cavendish banana, ice cream banana, white flesh dragon fruit and red flesh dragon fruit but unsure on cultivars, and 6 moringa which I took down recently because they had bad flood damage because I put them in a bad spot... Before this I grew one garden when I lived in Michigan so this was a year of serious learning. I have 3 YouTube videos which show what we done unfortunately I started the videos in August instead of February when the work began cutting oaks down. May all be blessed in their projects...

We drove across 4 states to visit my daughter and granddaughter. GD starts 5th grade next week. On the drive back, I'll stop in at my niece to chat a bit. I'm searching for a family member to pass my collection of family memorabilia to. To many, these scraps of paper and photos would be junk and trashed. I'm looking for someone who will treat these old papers gently and who wants the photos. I have discovered that my Niece's son has taken an interest in his family history and my value these things. I'm old enough to know that I do not have many years left and I don't want these items left to chance. We lost a box of family papers that my Aunt had because. she had not passed it to someone. My earliest scrap is a promissory note written in Tennessee in 1822 that promises to pay in bushels of corn. There is another note promising to pay in the money of Tennessee, Coming forward, I have the original Muster Roll of a Captain in the Black Hawk War of 1832 in Illinois and Wisconsin. It is the copy carried by the Captain during the campaign as proved by field notes scribbled on the document. These are two are of the most historical significance in the collection. There are many other items such as property tax receipts and letters. During the 1830s, the Baptist Church split. The breakaway group retained the name, Baptist while the original group changed their name to Primitive Baptist. Also, there was a split in my ancestor's family. One Son went with the new Baptist group and was named a trustee. I have his copy of a deed of land given to the new church. These items are stuff that genealogists value, but is trash to others. I am looking for a keeper of family papers and photos. Other than this, we don't have any plans for the holiday.

Oh, I know what Kielbasa is, I am half Polish! I thought kolbassi was something different.

It's basically the same dinner as Thanksgiving, so not much planning is needed.

We gave a beautiful rib roast in the freezer that we got on sale a few weeks back. I haven't thought much about the rest of the meal. I'd like to make Yorkshire pudding.

Grass fed local rib roast....other than that....dunno....time...dunno either...maybe around 3??

We don't do a big xmas dinner,the house is like Grand Central Station all day,in and out.So we usually have donuts and drinks for the early morning crowds and i usually have stew in the crock pot for later in the day for anyone that want to come/stay to eat.

Pretty much the same menu as Thanksgiving here too, except we will have cut out cookies and other sweets that I make for Christmas but not Thanksgiving

Probably the same as always....ham, kielbassi, hot German potato salad, green bean casserole, home made biscotti, challah bread, relish tray with crudites. . .
