I too have that coloring. My Mom had beautiful darkish auburn hair until she got real sick and could not take care of it. I have dark blond with the grey-silver streaks and out in the sun shows the redish highlight. Sometimes it is the shampoo that makes the difference. My grandma had beautiful white hair. She used lemon juice and bluing. If I use the wrong color, it turns orange, and that is not a pretty sight.

I use the generic silver highlights shampoo.The purple stuff. I also have dark blonde hair. I always liked my haircolor,would sometimes get a frost done but mostly just left it alone.

When I lost my hair, I bought myself a red wig with highlights. I loved it. My own hair has always been blonde. When my hair grew back it was just gray. So I put a strawberry blonde color on it It turned, red,pink and purple. A beautician told me that was because of the chemicals. So now I wil let it go back to gray. I didn't know about the purple shampoo with silver highlights. I would love to have had the gray with silver, but it didn't happen.

You sound like me and my sister. My hair greyed like yours is doing. It is now snow white and I love it!!
My sister dyes hers, it looks soooo dyed. In the light is looks almost green, and she has it professionally done.

CR-Every time I have my hair cut the operator tells me the same thing.My natural color was medium brown with auburn highlights.I started turning grey when I was in my late 20's and by the time I was 50 I was totally silver except for a little dark in the back.
Everyone compliments my hair and I never colored it after it started getting grey or even wanted to.Every time I even jokingly mentioned putting a color on it DH would throw a fit.LOL A few years ago DD got her cosmetology license and she and DD#2 begged me to let them color my hair blonde.I have never been a blonde and I have always wondered if they really do have more fun so decided I'd let them do it. I ended up with purple hair!! I couldn't wait for it to grow out enough to cut the color off.Good thing I like my hair very short.DD said I was in style.She said a lot of younger girls(and boys)pay a lot for that color.LOL It was a pretty shade of purple. I will never do it again.I love my silver hair.I use to use Clairol Ultra White Minx rinse on it but don't bother with it now.It really brings out the silver.
Arosegirl-If your sister is getting a blonde color put on her hair they are probably using an ash blonde.That will make some hair green.Her beautician should know better! If she does it herself she should make sure the color she is using doesn't have ash in it.
