Sometimes I do have feelings or thoughts like that. Not really very often, but it's happened a few times in my life. It's not always about something bad. For example, one time I was in my bedroom, which wasn't close to the kitchen, and I blurted out to someone "why are you putting SALT on your banana sandwich"? And she said "how did you know I was putting salt on it"? And then I realized I didn't know how I knew that. Come to think of it, I don't know how I knew she was even having a banana sandwich. It happens infrequently though.

Events like this in my town are rare. I hope it wasn't a fatality and that the person/people will be ok.

Both DH and I over the years 56+ have had those feelings. One year when babies were tiny, coming home from my grandparents,, a "red" line appeared if we went over a certain speed, slow down, no line etc. We were about to the point of stopping for the night then we came upon a horrible accident---head on two families killed and talked to CHP later (my friend) and he said it was the worst accident he had ever seen. He and his crew had to take time off-- after that no more red line. We both feel that if we had not slowed down we would have been involved.
Several times delays around the house have delayed us, and we have even cancelled trips. Sometime we find out, sometimes we don't. We just tell each other that God does not want us on the road.

Interesting..I think sometimes I feel things I don't know how to tap into. Later I find a relationship to the feeling. Even now I don't know how to describe what I mean.

Marie where did you see a red line?

I found out that a 60 year old woman pulled into a parking lot and hit a truck that was backing out of a parking spot. She then accelerated instead of breaking, and hit a tree head on, killing her 83 year old passenger.

That's very sad, Susan, about the accident. And kind of cool and freaky about the clairvoyance. I've had a couple of minor incidents that were mildly similar, most involved the telephone. Once when I was about 12, the phone rang and I looked up as my mother was going to answer it and I said "this is bad news" and it was my aunt on the phone telling her that my uncle was dead. Usually it's very innocuous, though, I seem to know who is calling before I answer. Not all the time, just some of the time.

I do get that dreadful feeling occasionally, but I have never had anything come from it or show up along the way to excuse it. I'm sorry you witnessed that accident. That kind of thing can stay with you for a long time. And that poor driver- I'm sure she'll never get over this.

Well...we tend to remember when we 'feel' something and that something does happen -- or we make what happens fit into the 'premonitiion'. There is not necessarily any relationship. We also know things we don't know we know -- like that a phone call at a particular time, in particular circumstances, is likely to bring certain news. (There's a framework of semi-conscious thoughts around a happening that influences our thoughts about it: I haven't heard from so-and-so in a week; Uncle has been unwell; someone is traveling in bad weather; etc.)

We don't notice all the 'premonitions' that do NOT 'come true'.

I know, Sue. I'm not trying to portray myself as "gifted" or anything like that. This was just weird because I was distressed and talking about it to my husband about 3 minutes before we came upon the accident site. And the awful feeling I had was both physical and emotional. But it was probably a fluke.

Yes, I have had feeling like that. One time, I had a terrible feeling that my then husband was in an accident with a gravel truck. It was so strong that I left what I was doing and drove to where I thought it was oing to happen. When I got there, the loaded gravel truck was on its side and gravel all over. No one was hurt though. I had some other similar experiences but this was years ago - nothing lately, thank goodness. It is very disturbing.

A couple of times I've dreamed I was in a car accident, then had a "near-miss" for real later that day. Spooks me out!

My uncle died of a drug overdose. I had no idea he had a drug problem. It was a shock to everyone, so there's no way I could have been worried about him.

I think that premonitions can be real and true. And I know they don't always "come true".

I had a real sense of dread about an upcoming trip when I was about 20 years old. I didn't want to go, it was a night trip from FL to VA and I was so nervous that I ended up driving almost the whole way there myself. I couldn't sleep and XH could, so he slept and I drove. When we got to VA, everything was fine and I settled down. Our car was parked on the street and about the 2nd night there, his sister parked her car behind ours and it was was plowed into by a drunk driver in the middle of the night, wrecking both cars but not bothering mine at all. No one was hurt, fortunately. And that was it. Was that the reason for my sense of dread? I have no idea. Was I just nervous about the trip? Maybe. I'll never know, but I do remember being very reluctant to go up there at that time.

Susan -- I wasn't 'dissing' you. LOL (Do teen still use that word?)

I would love to believe in clairvoyance, although I wouldn't want to have that dubious 'gift'. If it does exist, it's pretty hit and miss; it's never been proven when tested.

Oh, I know, Sue. I didn't take it that way. I don't know what was going on, just that it was weird. I might not have explained myself well, because I'm distracted today.

Once years ago, a man came to my door, I had never seen him before. My first thought was, this man doesn't have long to live! He died a week or so later. He had come to meet my husband, they had talked to each other over the CB radio. He was only in his 50's I think at the time. My daughters and I can call each other at the same time! Happens often. :)

I'm not too sure about ESP or clairvoyance, but I somehowe think all people are "gifted" in that they are joined with the mind of God. Definitely not something evil.

Marilyn_sue -- Your example fits with what I was attempting to say -- that we know (or pick up on) things we don't realize we are observing. You looked at the man and may have noticed signs of illness: dulled eyes, poor skin color or tone, a look of fatigue, a feeling he was struggling to keep going, etc.

I imagine you and your daughters often think of one another; sometimes you'll pick up the phone.

Glenda_al -- I'd guess that your stomach ache comes as a *result* of anticipated change rather than as a predictor of change.

The line I was talking about looked like a strip of red blood on the road. It was really scary for us. Both of us do get these feelings, just don't know why. But there has been times we have had such strong feelings that we will call someone just to make sure. Just a part of life.
