Beautiful picture of my parents!

As many of you know, I've been scanning my dad's old negatives for quite some time now. I've never seen many of them before, so this project is full of surprises. Some of the surprises are especially meaningful, and this is one of them. I don't know why I never saw it until now.

I post one of my father's pictures on Facebook most days, but haven't shared this one yet. I just found it. And I really love it.

Either Beni Maiko, Otome Zakura or Shin Deshojo. I have a Shin Deshojo that has similar 'ribbed' leaves.

I have a light yellow house myself. This is what I would do with your parents house - Upstairs - two end windows I would put white shutters on each side. Leave the middle window the way it is. I think shutters on all three upstairs windows would be too much. Downstairs - both of the windows I would put some type of white decorative trim/box type thing (I really don't know what they are called) across the top of each window. I would do the large trim piece around the front door white. For the front door, I would take a color out of the stone on the front of the house and paint it to match that. Google "what color shutters to put on a yellow house" I did that and there were a ton of images to look at!

Wow! What an incredible picture! Looks like your father is on his way down to bended knee to propose. They are so intently focused on each other -- simply beautiful.

That is really beautiful, truly from the heart. I would love to know the story behind it and who took the picture. Lacking that history I could certainly spin a beautiful story in my imagination. I think I would have that framed for the family.

Thanks, everyone! I'm so happy to be able to share this with you.

I'm sure my dad took this one himself. He took a lot of pictures on a timer. I'm guessing it was taken when they were first married, before I was born. I'm definitely going to print and frame it.

What a find Susan! So much is conveyed in that simple black and white picture. It's one of those photos that draws you right in - you'll never tire of looking at it.

Where will you put it after it's framed?

What an "awesome" picture. If I saw this anywhere I would take a double take and linger on it. It's deep and very meaningful for sure. How wonderful that you found it and can enjoy it in your home to reflect on anytime.

Thanks for sharing, Susan. I bet you appreciate this more now. When we're young, it seems impossible our *parents* were ever young lovers.

I was glad to discover a certain photo of my paternal grandmother. I'm sure my grandfather took it. He carried it in his wallet. Grandmother is seated with some knitting obscuring her lap. She has a shy smile and a little twinkle in her eyes. I'm guessing she's pregnant with their first son. (It was all downhill for her afterwards, but they are both happy in that captured moment.)

Must be comforting to see this picture, Susan, and it's also a must for framing. :)

Really like the silhouette and yet enough lighting to see their faces...I bet this was one of their favs, too. :)

I'll definitely frame it. I'll have to figure out where I'm hanging it first, so I know what size to print. Over the course of scanning hundreds of my dad's negatives, I've found many that I'd like to frame--but this one really grabbed me.

Thank you all!

I have wonderful picture of my parents surprise 50th anniversary dinner. My sister and I planed it and they were so surprised.

Many marriages do not last that long, sadly.

Mine didn't :o(
